We are working on the problem and will have a solution soon.

PS -While we are having this discussion about comments, we have always felt moderated comments were a way to go to avoid trolling. The Internet can be a pretty rude place at times so we wanted to try and reduce that.

How would everyone feel about

a) Direct posts to blogs.

b) Moderation after publishing (if we went down this path we would need volunteer moderators).

c) We are going to start clamping down more on personal abuse between commentators and would like to open up thoughts form you the readers about what you would like to see in terms of comments and what the rules should be.

Please leave comments below. Thoughts on what we will do will be published middle of next month.

Cheers TDB Team

  1. ‘Europe today sells itself to other powers like China – philosopher’

    https://www.rt.com/shows/sophieco/258825-eu-immigration-poverty-utopia/

“Years of austerity, immigration, poverty and a growing wealth gap – the European Union today is far from the Utopia some used to imagine when it was created. Now, with current politicians unable to solve the issues people are facing, the whole Union is being torn apart by rising far-right and far-left parties; People seek innovation in politics, seeing EU’s stagnant leadership unwilling to act. But are these new parties able to deliver on their promises? Is there even an alternative way for Europe? We ask these questions – and many more! – to a philosopher, activist and author of ‘What does Europe want?’ Srecko Horvat is on Sophie&Co today”.

  2. Hi Choocy,

On the perch again, yes you are right, Europe is heading for rough times as immigrants flood Germany Holland, UK, Norway and other places, the locals are becoming unsettled and angry according to some folks we know living over there.

Open borders are fine if controls are in place, but the flood every year now is really stating to bite.

My son says many Turks are there in Germany now so add the new flood of other north African countries that Turkey is now bombing and we will see political unrest there soon enough.

UK has massive influx also and will continue to face many of these folks from war torn regions.

These are eating away at the fabric of these cultures and we have got stormy times ahead.

  3. Please mister Trump Sir ……. do you think the rest of the World (Mother Earth) could have a fence to keep you guys IN.
Why just 2,000 miles to keep the Mexicans OUT?
Think of the boost to industry! Use US industry and technology! None of your Ashun shit…. no Ashun R&D ….
Think of the boost to the economy!
American exceptionalism eh! Leaders of the free whurl
Put the fuckn thing right the way around American territory!! and do the rest of the World a favour!
Btw Donny Sir …. I’ve got a neighbour who could fix those permanently pouted lips for a fee [he does the Botox; protruding veins; Polly wanna cracker & Grubt no feel lips], and there’s a couple of Chinese retirees struggling in a local boarding house just down the road that could do something about that ever-thinning hair you have (you’d have to watch the chemicals though – but I doubt any could impact in any way on your gorgeous body – being as it is -“Your Temple”.
I’ve got a deal for ya!

  4. Inquiry to be held into Saudi SheepDag deal.

Will this be a genuine inquiry held in the public interest? Or that of a Clayton’s variety – going through the motions – the inquiry you have, when you are not actually having an inquiry, so as to not cause embarrassment to NatzKEY?

Still no Murray McCully in Parliament! Six weeks or more he’s been absent from Parliament. Almost similar to the game of “Where’s Wally” … in this case it’s “Spot Murray!” Keeping him away to avoid facing the hard questions I bet!

  5. Todays Herald says Bill English says he going to have to sell Landcorp farms, someone asked if it would be part privatisation , no the whole lot would have to go and the government cant put money into Landcorp to keep it going.
One wonders which of Keys mates will get more and more of NZs productive land, where is it going to end.The TPPA will be all set up to welcome the corporations, with lots of goodies.
Notice all the protests and Key didn’t even acknowledge them, he said TPP is going ahead nicely. !!!!

    • It will be interesting to know if English issued a Ministerial Directive to Landcorp to increase their borrowing and pass on higher dividends to the government, as English and former SOE Minister, Simon Power, did for Solid Energy in 2009.

That was partly the cause of Solid Energy’s demise.

      • Another Hubbard game ,More money for Government whichever way they cut it.
Mr Hubbards demise if true it was no accident, means more tragedy for someone, which shows this government as callous greedy and no conscious, this shouldn’t be allowed to continue.
Ede was hidden away in dirty politics episode, and Key say he dosnt know which part of government Jason Ede is working at.
Mc Cully hidden away because of Saudi sheep deal,if TPP goes ahead Grosser wont be seen for a long time either I expect.

With the Hubbard case Key is well implicated,if proved true by the fact that “his friend and neighbour”bought the business and made a huge profit on USA stock exchange.
Our tax money that Key is said to have given that neighbour, was probably for the purpose of buying Mr Hubbards business ,who would gain then hmm!!! I wonder.
If something isn’t done about this soon, the TPP will be signed and Key will resign and hide out in USA.thats probably why his cabinet is saying its time to pick his succssesor.

      • Just read in local paper that Rabobank agribank specialist predicts big increase in dairy prices months into 2016.
Maybe that’s why Bill English on instructions from above wants to sell Landcorp, mates will buy it cheap then when the dairy prices rise ,bingo big profits, its the name of the game.
