Paul Henry attacks Asian drivers in latest desperate ratings stunt for attention

This morning Paul Henry kicked his show off with an attack on an Asian driver and made vast generalisations about their driving abilities.

After the Chinese sounding name ‘stats’, Asian-NZers will be feeling even more bashed upon than usual in this country.

This latest tired attempt to generate controversy and attention is being driven by the ratings meltdown at TV3.

The Paul Henry Show and TV3 have been haemorrhaging ratings ever since they killed off Campbell Live. When you consider the vast sum of time and energy spent on promoting The Paul Henry Show, the fact it’s getting out rated by Sesame Street is a tremendous blow to TV3 Management.

Paul’s latest tirade is made even more awkward when after ending his anti-Asian driver rant, he crossed to Perlina Lau.

The thing I really miss about boycotting TV3 is the day when the very brilliant Lau finally snaps and shoots Paul Henry in the face live on air.

I’d watch that episode.

  1. The man is worse than a fool – he’s a knave. A corporate henchman. How did we create such attitudes in this country?

    Or rather ‘why’…

  2. So your boycott of TV3 is finally over then? I know you hinted you might stop. I’m a total masochist, so have been watching both Seven Sharp AND parts of Paul Henry. It’s very educational in a self-flagellating sort of way to witness how far we have fallen as a society.

  3. Lau may enjoy watching Henry destroy his credibility – ludicrously weak leaders are just the thing for ambitious subordinates.

  4. How did the fair minded Hillary handle him on this attack on Chinese drivers?

She should run the show and send henry back to his mother poor woman, he is a National Party disgrace so National where is the “balance ” in news?

It seems that the NatZ Nasty’s always cart out as an excuse to rid other journalists of a lack of “balance”?

Sorry I didn’t mean to heap Paul Henry into the same pile as all the group of “Journalists” as he is not one.

    • This snickering Muttley dickshit, just can’t help himself can he?

Ex-National Party candidate, mouthpiece muppet of the right-wing should be censured or at very least, sacked. We can’t leave him there spouting his bile and vitriole against all and sundry. And what’s worse, like every other entitled “don’t you know who I am?” knob, he just can’t help himself.

Deafening silence again from politically appointed, shoulder-tapped Susan Devoy on Paul Henry’s foot-in-mouth racism.

Maybe she doesn’t want to (or hasn’t been advised to) comment and jeopardise Paul Henry’s knighthood for services to broadcasting.

  5. TV3 should replace it’s news / current affairs with Sesame Street – suggested lineup

    Bert + Ernie – politics
Cookie Monster + Count Von Count – Business obviously

    Kermit – the roving reporter

Oscar the grouch – surely a perfect replacement for Henry / Hoskins

  6. I was in China a year ago, I loved the way the Chinese drove, always letting people in, always finding ways of keeping the flow around barriers, no crashes, few dents, really quite impressive. We Kiwis are so structured with road rules, and our bellicose belligerence that we would not cope in the pressure cooker anarchy of Chinese roads. I have a feeling that the Chinese who learn to drive in China probably due to the described driving practices could become a problem here. Clash of driving cultures no less.

Re Paul Bollock Brain, WTF, what a total fool.

  7. Its their own fault for bringing him back into the country….he is repugnant on so many levels…him and Hosking should be bundled into a very small boat with limited supplies and cast off to Oz…never to be seen again-raising the IQ of both countries,to wheel out a tired old joke…or two.

  8. How does Hillary stand it ? Day after day keeping up her face and front when inside, I bet, she is silently disgusted most of the time. The righteousness and bafoonery of this pompous sad little man is just the kind of poor example New Zealand does not need to represent us in any way.

We still boycott Chan.3 and this mindless brainwashing nonsense that is the boring Paul Henry show. Why did we let him back into our media world after making an idiot of himself in Australia ? Sounds like TV3 needs to fire the whole lot of ceo’s at mediaworks and hire some sane folks with integrity and common sense and vision. TV3 is sinking fast and good riddance to bad quality TV. More and more are boycotting and I hope it grows. Money; ratings and greed rule their world and they are likely partially owned by the govt. as we all know TV1 is.

  9. Oh dear, did little Paulsy Walsy have to slow his gas guzzler from 130 km/hr for a few minutes because an Asian driver very rudely insisted on driving in front of him at 100 km/hr? How inconsiderate of them! Never mind Paul, just look at your desktop picture of John Key for a few minutes and you will feel heaps better knowing you are there for each other!

  10. Why is MSM not crucifying Henry, the way they did Labour over the Chinese sounding names house buyers???
Oh that’s right when the likes of Henry & the rest of the national party supporters do it, its not racist.
What an utter bunch of hypocrites MSM, the national party & their supporters are.

  11. Sometimes I turn my radio from Morning Report to Radio Live, the simulcast of the Paul Henry morning program. But once I hear that idiot make his silly jokes and the rubbish he “reports”, then I turn back to Morning Report on RNZ National. It is hardly more than a minute that I may listen to that overrated idiot on TV3 and Radio Live.

So he made generalised comments about Asian drivers? I missed that. Did Henry not criticise Andrew Little and Labour for the release of home buyers’ names with a Chinese sounding surname?

What hypocrite this jerk is, what hypocrite.

  12. As much as I think Paul Henry is a jerk, he is right about the poor standard of Asian drivers in this country.
