The boycott of TV3 continues to meltdown TV ratings…

TV ratings: More bad news for Masterchef
Masterchef has served up another disappointing night of ratings, with even fewer viewers in the target demographic tuning in.

Last week, the series attracted its lowest ever ratings when it premiered on TV3, with just 181,000 viewers tuning in, 107,000 of which were in the target demographic, aged 25-54.

Last night, the exact same number of viewers tuned in – 181,000 – but only 98,000 in the target demographic.

It’s bad news for the broadcaster, which has already changed scheduling to try and improve the numbers to keep sponsors happy.

…return Campbell Live and the boycott ends. It’s simple really.

Mediaworks have completely missed how angry people were at the way they treated John Campbell and his team. Until they do what is right by him, we as viewers won’t do what’s right by them.

If all we have left in this cargo cult country is being a consumer because being a citizen is meaningless, then vote with your remote.

I’m going to make an exception regarding my not watching TV3 to review their new current affairs show ‘Story’ tonight.

If you are disgusted by the way TV3 killed off Campbell Live for political reasons, you can join the boycott here.

  1. I think they are well aware of why viewership has dropped but knowing it and speaking publicly about it are two different things.

  2. I can’t join the boycott as I have been boycotting bookface for years. That should be on a blog NOT at that evil place.

  3. Isn’t it great? People power does make a difference 🙂

FJK – “get rid of that left wing bastard” – needs to give some thought to the fact if people boycotting a TV network he controls through his TV3 muppet marionettes, are having a negative effect on ratings, imagine what the power of the people could do to NatzKEY should the fires of discontent and dissent begin to rage and blow! He should shudder at the thought!

BRING BACK JOHN CAMPBELL for some intelligent journalism!

  4. I’d be interested to know whether Netlix or Lightbox are having and effect – anyone know? I’m loving Netflix and hardly ever watch terrestrial now.

  5. Still Boycotting Martyn.
I assume you are going to review “Fairy Story” tonight.
I shall not be watching it!

    • No I don’t think we will bother retuning in our freeview to the deleted TVKey just to watch BoyTory Garner and GirlTory Heather DPAllen.
Like to say “Nice try TVKey” but it won’t be.

      • Heard Mr Key told a school and a student that a month of Maori language would be “boring”.

Wonder if Mr Key wants to get rid of Maori TV as well because a permanent Maori channel might be too boring? JFK appointed Weldon and Christie and got rid of “left-wing bastard” Campbell Live. Who will he appoint to get rid of “boring” Maori TV?

  6. Grow a spine and balls TV3,- AND BRING BACK JOHN CAMPBELL TO GIVE US BALANCE YOU TURKEYS, ELSE OUR FAMILY WILL NEVER WATCH ANOTHER MINUTE POF YOUR RIGHT WING SPIN AGAIN.

  7. John Campbell is too good to join the rubbish being shown on TV3 these days. I don’t watch it and there is nothing I miss. Oh for a real TV journalist. One who doesn’t need to tell me how to think, but presents me with a balanced range of facts.

    • Sigh, I agree there. I guess the point though, is that if he is on that corporate hate-merchant channel he might possibly reach some viewers that aren’t already as enlightened as tdb readers. And effect more of a change.

  8. Actually, I’m sort of surprised they haven’t got Cameron Slater to front a show yet…
I’ll almost certainly watch Story (at least for a while), ‘cos in lieu of alternatives, Mike Hosking is steadily whittling down my will to live. Remember if you don’t have a “People Meter” in your home, they have absolutely no way of knowing what you’re watching regardless, i.e. you’re doing what can only be described as self-harming (if you’re now watching Seven Sharp for e.g.) for no reason whatsoever other than to honestly say “I don’t watch TV3”.

  9. You all need to wake up to the 21st century. Broadcast TV is dead.

It’s advertising revenue is dwindling to nothing because people today have options, including the option to save a progamme and skip over the ads.

Campbell or no Campbell, TV3 is a dead man walking. It’s about as relevant as buggy whips and sealing wax.

Same applies to newspapers. There’s a long list of media ‘luvvies’ with inflated egos who will be heading to the WINZ office soon.

    • That’s why you need a public channel without ads. Like 7, or how Maori used to be. Plenty of other countries seem to manage it. It’s not like there just ‘isn’t the money’.
