I’ve spoken to Labour sources about the internal polling that is causing so much buzz.
A number of factors are causing the sort of jumps not being reflected in the public poll.
First – the economy is taking a pounding. Business confidence is lower than TV3’s ratings. This sudden dive is spooking many and the lack of vision by Key connects with a deep unease in the electorate.
Secondly – ‘middle NZ’ those who voted for Helen Clarke but who now vote John Key are finding it more difficult to buy houses for their own kids and their interests are causing a surge of voters to walk away from National towards Labour.
Thirdly – Labour’s focus on Chinese voters while enraging twitter will take votes from NZ First and National. Those within Labour who see the use of Chinese sounding name as racism will walk to the Greens.
What the internal Polls show is National diving, Labour jumping, the Greens gaining and NZ First dropping.
What interested me most about the recent attacks on Labour for racism were the responses. Sure on Twitter, Labour were little better than the KKK, but on Facebook and especially the comments sections of all the news, there was a vast agreement with Labour.
Labour’s dog whistle may have been crude but it’s been heard by Middle NZ and the Greens have picked up those from Labour who are too angry to stay.
National’s sudden attempts to release responses to property speculation suggests David Farrar has found the same thing in his polling.
Can we shove the Nats out now? she asked hopefully.
The highly emotional response to Labour’s actions annoyed me, but at least there appears to be some upside to it.
As with most defining moments in history , they have mostly required a sledgehammer approach to bust down the doors.
Whether Labours’ exposing of the real estate figures was ‘dog whistling ‘ or not , someone had to have the testicular fortitude to start the conversation about what is turning into an absolute nightmare for our younger generations,
If this had not been exposed ( and clearly, the agent who leaked the information was concerned enough to forfeit his job ), we would , and still could, see the average Auckland house price hitting the million dollar mark.
How can that possibly be driven up by Kiwis working in NZ, earning NZ dollars, when the average wage in NZ is about $50, 000.00 per annum?
Somebody had to put the helmut on, shove in the crotch box , strap on the leg pads and go into bat for future generations, and from the talk I am hearing on the street, they are already eternally grateful !
Exactly !!!
And its been a long time coming. And having met and chatted with Phil Twyford – I can say right now hes no racist and hes no neo liberal sell out either. I applaud his stance and Little’s support of him. Good on them !!!
This OUR country . This country isn’t up for grabs for all and sundry from every corner of the globe to come along and plunder when an opportunity presents itself through devious govt unwritten policy .
Hell’s bells !!!….who does Key think we are??!!!
Some sort of naive , wet behind the ears easily suckered bunch of blasted illiterates???!!!
Bloody hell !!!…the country’s already known as a despicable low wage economy as it is !!! How much more are we expected to tolerate ???
More of Key’s bloody bullshit ‘rockstar economy’ crap ?
What a joke !!!
This isn’t about ‘dog whistling’ !!! – This is about the bloody future of OUR country and getting rid of a surreptitiously treasonous individual globalist who doesn’t give a damn about future generations posing as a ‘PM ‘ .
And his neo liberal mates.
And just remember the words of his Finance minister if you ever start to doubt what their true motives are …in the words of the Double Dipper from Dipton :
”We should be glad we have a LOW WAGE ECONOMY as this encourages foreign investment ”.
How obscene is that ? They’re bloody PROUD OF THE FACT !!!
The ‘ Trickle Down Effect ‘ boys and girls brigade.
Keep those words always in mind and never forget them. Those words will be your guiding light as to what Key and his disgusting sycophants are all about.
And its not YOU the voter.
OR this country’s future prosperity.
Anything to get the conversation started! Wakey wakey NZ you’re in the S**t.
Now the next thing Labour needs to do is completely can the TPPA!
The horrid piece of work that it is! I feel like I’m being sold to the highest corporate bidder by John Key – and it disgusts me, as it should disgust all New Zealanders.
The poll result: did it justify the means?
It may have been a politically ‘smart’ thing to do, but it’s still a shitty thing to do. How different is it from the tired old:
“SEX – now that I have you attention” gag?
House prices in Auckland are going to drop. Nothing is more certain. The rental prices tell us this without having to look further. To get a realistic return on value, rental prices for the average house would have to be at least $1300 per week. More if you factor in taxes or any kind of levies. It will start when prices stop rising and simple capital gains are no longer factored in. Following the collapse of the Kiwi dollar, many investors will be asking themselves if the should devest before things get worse.
Like a change of government or some meaningful policy.
(Not much chance of that from the present government but you can’t be sure if they begin to slip in the polls).
The question will be whether it will be a controlled slide or a free for all.
If you are over-exposed, you might like to quietly slip out now.
I wouldnt count on house prices to fall
….not with the huge population and pressure coming out of China…I.3 billion people…excess of 55 million males to females by 2020 (could swamp NZ many times over…NZ is paradise)
….the demand to get out of grossly overpopulated, human rights violations, environmentally trashed China with its share market plummeting is HUGE
NZers are f..king naive

Yes the NatZ are bewildered or shunned like a mullet and it looks good on them, as they may have come to the end of their golden run of an Commodity price rises and earthquakes, and an ignorant public.
Finally they must through that haze of propaganda Joyce had carefully wrapped them in but even Joyce is wise enough to remember that term “You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.”
Bye bye pork politics eh?
Its quite amazing they fooled anyone at all….as they are no more than wolves in pigs clothing – a most bizarre combo I’ll admit – but one thing we can be sure of now…is that all the lies, the deceit and the motives are coming out into the open …
Its the Auckland housing crisis that will lay them low…seems just about anything gets justified in this country now but if you dick around with peoples cash they get upset.
And forcing people out of being able to buy their own houses when they see other foreign speculators buying them who don’t even live here is a surefire way to really piss em all off.
[…] will outrage the cosmopolitans, but attract the middle. Labour’s internal polling shows this happening with the Greens going up and large numbers walking from National to Labour while NZ First’s […]
