The PM is relaxed.

Govt ‘complacent’ on economy: Opposition
Opposition parties are accusing the Prime Minister of complacency over the state of the economy, after John Key said there was no need to hit the panic button.

The ANZ bank called for the Government and local government to use their strong balance sheets to stimulate the economy alongside the efforts of the Reserve Bank through interest rate cuts.

Key told reporters on Monday the Government was not so ideological in its view that it couldn’t change its spending parameters, but that was not what it thought was needed at the moment.

Well duh! Of course the government are complacent, not just about the economy but about EVERYTHING and why wouldn’t they be?

National have a Labour Party who seem to be devoid of any actual solutions and simply want to be patted on the back for managing to not turn on each other with machetes for 8 months.

National have a new co-leader of the Greens who wants to work with them.

National have a NZ First who are positioning to be the new voice of the provinces and just elected a deputy leader far more happy to side with the Government than Labour and the Greens.

National face a Conservative Party that has imploded.

National have a mainstream media now emptied of any genuinely critical voices.

And most importantly, National have an electorate who shrug off abuses of political power detailed in Dirty Politics, secretly support his brutal crackdown on welfare and still bewilderingly believe Key is a better manager of the economy despite the crony capitalism and corporate welfare.

As long as the middle classes of NZ are earning more from their property valuations than their actual jobs, National’s complacency seems well placed.

  1. I don’t disagree with the overall sentiment, but, there is a helluva difference between:
National have a new co-leader of the Greens who wants to work with them.

    and

National have a new co-leader of the Greens who wants to work with them on climate change.

Can anything effective be done on climate change without roughly 46% of the population who likely comprise the major emitters? Nice to rail against the Tories, quite another to get something effective done.

  2. “As long as the middle classes of NZ are earning more from their property valuations than their actual jobs, National’s complacency seems well placed.”

The reason why Labour got decimated at the elections is because in trying to appeal to and be a voice for minorities they alienated the majority. To me, the death blow was “I’m sorry for being a man.” I know the context and all that but afterwards there was no way I was going to vote for Labour.

And what was John Key’s response? He said he wasn’t sorry for being a man and even wore a t shirt saying it – he appealed to the majority.

John Key comes across to me as a bit of prat and the words “smiling assassin” seems pretty apt. But he has a certain charm that the majority like.

I never liked Lange but he had that same kind of charisma IMHO, although he appealed more to a different demographic. Labour needs to find another Lange.

  3. NatZ are heading for the shitter here folks!

The elephant in the room is the next monster economic crash coming soon to a town and city near you.

See the interview on RT with the past top executive that ran Goldman Sachs he said they control the world but all will fall apart sooner than later as they didn’t fix what caused the last crash 8yrs ago folks and the financial sewer is blocking up, what a firkin mess are we in for then!

  4. Substitute the word “arrogant” for “complacent” and that would be more accurate.

  5. Hello Everyone

Please watch “Money as Debt – Where Does Money Come From” . Takes about 45 minutes – time enough for a coffee break.

Then we can throw our guesses into the ring as to who the “Few” are standing in the darkness. I’ve got my guess all lined up to throw.

  6. The Nats power and Rock Star Economy (what a joke) are just illusions.
They will fall because they stand on quick sand and spew out lies and
biased glowing reports with no truth or substance. They control the media are beholding to the corporations and Greed is their motto. Out of touch with most of the people in NZ and serving their Ole Boys Network will sink them sooner than later. I have never seen such rudeness and elitism in parliament as I have since the Nats took over. They are taking our country right into the toilet and the sooner they are out, the better for most all of us.
I highly doubt that the Greens will cozy up to National much at all. Give Labour a chance to come forth and speak out before condemning them at every chance.

  7. Labour may prove to be less naive and more diligent under its new leadership. And we can be confident that Mr Little and his family will not be house guests at Balmoral. And because the Littles would not be on the “Oh do come to stay at Balmoral my Dears list” my concern for them and us is our personal and national welfare and safety given the spying arrangements and banking cartels now in place. Our economy is so precarious that the real power standing in the shadows needs only cut one string to plunge us into recession.

On the bright side – out of chaos may come a new and cleaner order.

That will knock Bill Gate’s one world order into touch. Unless of course Gates decides to kill us all off with geo-engineering, chem trails, and nano tracking chips planted in our vaccines and coffee, and wherever else he can put them. By the way. wasn’t Gates at The Bilderberg with Key?

P.S. These are not the names I would throw into the ring. They much much bigger than Key or Gates.
