If TV3 are trying to imitate the hate crime against public broadcasting that is ‘Seven Sharp’, then they may as well be totally open to being as sycophantic as ‘Seven Sharp’ and put Rachel in there.

Rachel Glucina and David Farrar sharing a joke about poor people.

Heather du Plessis-Allan has turned down TV3’s offer to host their new 7pm show with Duncan Garner so I think management should just go the whole hog and appoint Rachel Glucina to work as Duncan’s co-anchor.

If TV3 are trying to imitate the hate crime against public broadcasting that is ‘Seven Sharp’, then they may as well be totally open to being as sycophantic as ‘Seven Sharp’ and put Rachel in there. She pretends to be a PR person, so she may as well pretend to be a broadcaster as well.

If TV3 were serious about trying to get back their credibility they would put the incredibly talented Paula Penfold in the role, but I fear that’s not what they are aiming for.

My God TV broadcasting has become a ruined nightmare under a Government that wants the people distracted rather than informed.

BREAKING NEWS: Heather has said YES to MediaWorks and will be joining Garner. They obviously REALLY needed her for credibilities sake. Unfortunately the comments from Duncan sounds like the show will be awful…

“’I see this as a great chance to be part of a programme that will reflect our country and our lives – no matter where we live. I expect us to have fun, to laugh, to entertain and to tell your stories,” Duncan Garner says.

If I want fun, laughter and entertainment I’ll read NZ Herald editorials, but I’m not looking for a comedy show at 7pm, I’m looking for some actual journalism. Sounds like ‘Story’ will be as vapid as Seven Sharp.

The big question now is what will happen to poor Rachel?

    Keep turned off!

  2. Ontheup says:

yep I don’t watch tv 3 now and only glimpse at one news, as that is mere trifle. I’m actually watching less tv as it is all rubbish. It does seem funny tho as with declining ratings across the board – I mean only 200,000 or so watching shows that’s hardly doing anything for Key’s planned mind wash of the masses – how else is he going to get his b*****t out. Gee people may even try to inform themselves.

  3. Winnie says:

Mind you, appointing Rachel to work with Garner, would blend gossip, PR consultancy, sexual harassment advocacy, right-wing agenda mouth-piecing and extreme fuckwittery.

A match made in heaven really.

Then again, Rachel is as equally qualified to be the ideal candidate if Bill Clinton Colin Craig wants to re-launch his leadership campaign for the Democratic Conservative Party.

  4. CLEANGREEN says:

    You made me laugh there,

My blood pressure has gone down heaps since I switched off TV3 and to a lesser degree TV one.

Now I can choose between RT, Aljazerra, sky TV and one or two others and size them up for most honest story.
Because you cant do this watching TV1+3 as they read from the same page so much it’s a disgusting is a waste of time.

Hey Martyn we should have enough good quality journo’s about ready to begin a first “truth channel?”

Spotted in June 6th Herald’s Canvas magazine, re flag consideration panel:
    ‘Your questions answered:

Q Are you really listening to what the public are saying?’

A Thank you for getting involved and we can assure you we’re listening… We want to know what you feel is special about New Zealand so we can make sure your values are represented…”
(This answer was given by panel member JULIE CHRISTIE.)

You can’t make this shxt up. Whatever shred of credibility any of that panel had has now been put in the laughing bin at our house, thanks to that creature.

    • Winnie says:

      Values. Values!!

FFS – what a hypocrite Christie. What values do you stand for when you are allegedly part of the black ops constructive dismissal of John Campbell and then replace it with Come Dine with me NZ?

Sorry it’s hard to see my screen because I just spluttered Weetbix all over the screen and keyboard.

  6. Pete says:

Let’s have a flag type referendum to pick the name of the new programme with Gruesima and Garner.

So easy to come up with the first suggestion:
Gruesima and Garner = GaG !!

  7. Stuart Munro says:

Garner and Glucina deserve each other – but make ’em do a cooking reality show – I’m sure they have hidden talents. Well hidden talents.

  8. wild katipo says:

    Rachel Glaucoma and Duncan Blather?…..Hmmmmm…

Alright I spose if you want to eat worms and grass for tea as well every night for the next six years….

Knock yourselves out , then ..

    🙂

  9. Kim dandy says:

It’s going to happen….was probably organised months ago.

  10. Mike in Auckland says:

I was already close to thinking that it would not happen, as this post suggested yesterday.

But then, the news on Wednesday told us it is going to happen.

This does not make me feel that good at all about this new “duo” at 7 pm on TV3 week nights.

  11. Kevin says:

And Campbell was journalism? Give me a break. Hell your show was more hard-hitting journalism that what Campbell’s ever was.

  12. Lucy says:

don’t think there is much difference between Rachel and Heather to be honest! Heather on TV1 for the last year has been jokey, jokey giggly with the girls. I don’t think she has been a serious journo for a long time. I would have been really pissed if Barbara Dreaver had gone.
