Untied we stand – divided we fall, good on the standard offering support to our fabulous Martyn Bradbury editor of The Daily Blog during the hacker attacks going on since last night when The daily blog was attacked and shut down. ..

Why doesn’t all opposition parties place a court injunction and request half of the public owned NVNZ/RNZ be placed under Opposition control.

It is wrong to have only the Government controlling all our taxpayer funded public media for their benefit and give no voice for the opposing political parties.

Every time an opposing media site goes down it serves to remind us all that we have possibly the most repressive control on freedom of our voices of anywhere globally.

Get organised for our sake opposition Parties and put your pettiness aside for our common good please.

A private members bill would be the way to go rather than a court injunction (unless there is a specific law being violated that wouldn’t be much use). But it is an interesting idea, I assume you mean TVNZ not NVNZ (which seems to be a band name according to google).

  2. John Key should pay at least $100,000 in compensation to that poor waitress who he subjected to a prolonged harassment & pony tail abuse.

Not only can he afford it, but he can not afford to be seen to trivialize he actions with a couple of bottles of crappy wine.

No other politician would have been allowed to get away with it, and neither should John Key. There is simply “No Excuses” for this sort of behavior from our Prime Minister. It sets a very bad example

  5. Welcome back TDB team. Good to see the site back up and running. Been missing the stimulating, sharp input.

We should never fear speaking out, be it verbal, written or otherwise.

TDB is the place for the ordinary people’s voice to be heard and must continue to be so. Never give in to those opponents out there, who’s aim is to silence the challengers and dissidents, those who dare stand up to and question the establishment!

  6. Just read that Lydia Ko has pledged to donate her $195,000 winners purse from the Swinging Skirts tournament (what a dumb name for a tournament!) to the Nepal earthquake relief fund. She is a good lady, to be sure and a New Zealander we can be proud of.

  7. The political right wanted to know who TDB’s regular contributors are so they can be taught a lesson. All our e-mail addresses and identities are probably now on file at National Party HQ. They know where we live………

  8. I see the right is out in force on this site, giving their digits a bit of exercise. Plenty of thumbs down I notice. Must have missed us, when TDB site was compromised.

Can’t keep a good alternative news blog site down for long 🙂

Welcome guys. Bet you notice the difference in debate here. Bit more intelligent and stimulating than what you are used to.

  9. The banner link is directing to yesterday’s Open Mic again. I know the site’s had more pressing tech problems in the past day, but it’s happened before when the site hasn’t been under attack as well. Automatic filtering of duplicated comments wouldn’t go astray either (eg I’m sure TDA didn’t intend to make the same comment thrice above).

A functional banner button will do a lot towards ensuring TDB’s Open Mic reaches the critical mass to be a self-sustaining discourse (hat-tip to Chooky; who has been doing a lot to keep the conversation alive even when no one else has been commenting that day).
