  1. Apologies about this post being a bit vague, but I don’t want to implicate TDB. Hence the lack of a telling link to the story.

Lauda Finem today has an interesting article on a particular issue asking some interesting questions about the (non) qualifications of a certain someone who has just been given a (politically appointed) job in Northland, managing a 5 star resort!

  2. This is despicable; but also a sign that someone is getting worried, and that recent actions have been effective. Hopefully, any sensitive information was; off-premises, encrypted, or securely passworded:

Someone smashed into Unite Union last night, kicked our doors in, went through all our files and drawers, stole all our equipment, cameras, laptops, credit card, membership vouchers and benefits and spare keys.

    • @ Pasupial – this is deeply disturbing. There is an ominous pattern evolving here, with a strong connection back to the sordid game of dirty politics I’d say.

-“Legalized” spying on Kiwis at home and abroad

-Free speech/information via media under threat – Campbell Live (threat to government)

-Unite Union offices attacked (perceived threat to corporates, government)

Who/what will “they” come for next?

There’s a bit more information on this TV3 story:

“A lot of people are speculating that it’s very unusual that would happen to us at this moment in time, where we have a bit of a profile in the media for some of the campaign work we’ve been doing for zero hours,”…

“Some people have said that when there were break-ins that were politically motivated before, that they would take the other things that robbers would like, like your money, but that the real goal was to get the information,” says Mr Carolan.

  3. Oh dear, what a disaster. Unless Labour distances itself from this foolishness rapidly and emphatically, Lianne has really destroyed any credibility to claims that labour has distanced itself from Rogernomics. The following is a quote from Rob Cameron’s biography on the Cameron Partners website “…, Rob headed the Corporate Finance Division of Fay Richwhite. A highlight of his time there was leading Fay Richwhite’s involvement with Telecom New Zealand where Rob advised the purchasing consortium in the privatisation of Telecom in 1989, which saw Fay Richwhite also take an ownership stake. Rob then led the New Zealand team advising on Telecom’s IPO in 1990 …” This gifting of largesss to Fay Richwhite and US Telcoms is still holding New Zealand’s communications technology back. And now Lianne Dalzell thinks it’s useful to use this outfit to sell off Christchurch’s assets. I hope Christchurch residents submit on the Council’s Long Term Plan in opposition

  4. Re the Unite union office break in and theft.

Any word about what the police are doing about it? I take it they have become involved, investigating an invasion of private property?

I see it’s still not mentioned in other msm outlets, apart from TV3! Now why would that be, considering information has been stolen, along with computers etc?
