Someone smashed into Unite Union last night, kicked our doors in, went through all our files and drawers, stole all our equipment, cameras, laptops, credit card, membership vouchers and benefits and spare keys. I am furious beyond belief at the anti working class scumbags who would do this to an organisation that serves low paid and vulnerable workers.

If you’d like to help Unite after the attack on our offices, here’s the page.

Ka whawhai tonu mātou, ake ake ake.

    • @ NEHEMIAL WALL . Why the fuck would you care ? Why would you sympathise ? You’re a pro-neoliberal jonky lover ! So what the fuck are you up to ?
You , andy and dan ? One and the same ?

Check out the down-votes. The trolls are out from under their all-bought-and-paid-for rocks . You’re all traitors , you do know that right ?

      • Jesus Countryboy. People with political views sometimes dissimilar to yours still have empathy and a sense of justice. For all I know, this office may have helped in getting rid of zero hour contracts, which is great. The down votes – no, cant be bothered. Sometimes you cant see the woods for the trees Countryboy. I too hope they find who did this so we all know, whoever it is.

      • Why would I sympathise? The law has been broken. Someone’s personal place of work invaded. Property stolen. The possibility existed of harm to someone who may have been on site. It’s fairly obvious really.

  1. The ‘scumbags’ who ransacked your office are probably drugged-up losers. They don’t care whose office/house/car they burgle…they’re not anti the working-class; they’re just scum – though someone will probably blame the current government.

  2. Hi Joe,

This was obviously an inspired government inside job using black ops.

A vivid reminder of the Watergate break-in in Washington and the ugly shades of McCarthyism, as they purge the left.

Best think of placing Cameras that transmit data on WiFi so they cant destroy the evidence.

We cannot trust anybody in Planet Key’s world of divide & rule.

Far have we fallen under NatZ autocratic rule.

  3. I’m glad they didn’t leave a suitcase this time…

    (27 October, 1984.)

With thanks to Jack London and regret there are lower-yet forms of ‘life’:

“After God had finished the rattlesnake, the toad, the vampire, He had some awful substance left with which He made a scab.

A scab is a two-legged animal with a cork-screw soul, a water-logged brain, a combination backbone of jelly and glue. Where others have hearts, he carries a tumor of rotten principles.

When a scab comes down the street, men turn their backs and angels weep in heaven, and the Devil shuts the gates of Hell to keep him out.

No man has a right to scab so long as there is a pool of water to drown his carcass in, or a rope long enough to hang his body with. Judas Iscariot was a gentleman compared with a scab. For betraying his master, he had character enough to hang himself. A scab has not.

Esau sold his birthright for a mess of pottage. Judas Iscariot sold his Savior for thirty pieces of silver. Benedict Arnold sold his country for a promise of a commission in the British Army. The modern strikebreaker sells his birthright, his country, his wife, his children and his fellow men for an unfulfilled promise from his employer, trust or corporation.

Esau was a traitor to himself: Judas Iscariot was a traitor to his God; Benedict Arnold was a traitor to his country; a strikebreaker is a traitor to his God, his country, his wife, his family and his class.”

  4. The police will be just as interested in catching the offenders as they were in catching the people that vandalised Hone’s electorate office before the election.

    • and just as interested in admitting their mistakes in the David Bain case and confirming the real family killer. Police becoming more militant and less between the ears and no wonder we have lost trust in them.
Victims and their families suffer while the guilty get off scott free.

    • Funny. Because if you actually followed and supported Unite you would see that they have been complimentary of the response they received from the Police.

  5. Don’t expect the police to do anything about it ! We never found out who the Trades Hall bomber was, in the explosion that killed Ernie Abbott in 1984.
If it had been a left wing bomber we never would have heard the end of it.
(Having said that I heard the government would like to get rid of the police union to save some more money 🙂

  6. Lowest of the low. Scummiest of the scum bags. Cowards and bullies with no conscience. Running scared greedy psychos – you know – the kind that would hurt an animal when they were kids and learned to have no compassion for others. Violent and abusive creepy crawlers of the night.
Those self – centered, not very evolved folks who would lie as their second nature and think nothing of the impacts of their actions and intentions. Lowest of the low. . . . . .
    Sorry for your loss.

  7. I am NOT surprised at all about this. Thank the Key government for stirring hatred towards the weak and their representatives in this country, thank perhaps some employers, who may have got too frustrated and angry with UNITE and want you “out of business”, so to say. We can expect more of this, as there are willing mercenaries out there to do a hit job for any bit of money.

This society is sick, it must be sick, if even Willie Jackson thinks that Paul Henry on TV3 and Radio Live being simulcast for breakfast is “not too bad” or even good.

Brainwashing, propaganda and hate campaigns worked for Goebbels and Nazis, it does for big business and their government mates in NZ. Do not have me for Godwin attacks, we are facing something serious, please!

If only the larger crowds out there would damned well wake up, but they are brainwashed to death, it seems, all individually minded consumerists, who want things cheap, quick and easy, and no bad conscience about buying the cheap products and services, no matter what slavery or else is associated with making them.

NZ is a sick society, I observe, and it needs a good shakeup, especially when even Labour tows the line to neoliberalism and does even overtake the Reserve Bank on the right side of politics, by not wanting a capital gains tax.

What damned world do we live in, I ask? It must be a sick world, especially when hitmen do this to UNITE!

    • And we have another Godwin.

Might I suggest you reserve judgement over who committed thius crime until the Police investigation has been completed. If they still haven’t found anyone at the end then you can start speculating this is some sort of sinister plot by the VRWC. Doing so before is bad form.

      • Like we can trust the “evidence planting” police. Like we can trust the police who can rarely, if ever, admit their mistakes. Like we can trust the fox that has the key to the hen house. Most people do not trust most police so to think that justice is a given, we are fools. There are a few good cops but most are racist ; violent ; power hungry cowboys ; militant and not much substance between their ears. Intelligent men avoid the police force.
My experience tells me that justice is mostly illusory and you are lucky if you get justice in most legal systems.

        • I disagree. The Police is a huge organisation with the same challenges any large organisation has. But on the whole I’d trust the Police to get it right in the vast majority of cases.

        • And yet funnily enough the underpaid and overworked cops toiling away in family violence and youth aid have done a hell of a lot more to help the poor and vulnerable than you ever have.

          Talks cheap.

      • @ GOSMAN – are the police investigating?

If they are, I bet they have been “ordered” to take their time and not put too much effort into working on it!

Then once the stolen information has been scrutinized, wait for law enforcement officers to begin sniffing around Unite union advocates and members. That will be their official task.

      • Gosman, Godwin called. He wants you to stop taking his name in vain, or he’ll call the Brown Shirts out on you.

  8. While I am very disappointed this happened, know that you all must be doing something right in the fight for justice. Peace brother

  9. Intimidation by the corporate fascists. Don’t expect the blueshirts to do anything – as mentioned, they have a terrible record of inaction in past crimes of a similar nature. The corporate brownshirts are, however, very active, and don’t like the bad publicity that zero-hours has been getting. This is clearly not a petty burglary but an attack on the democratic right to organised labour. Do corporate union busters exist in NZ in 2015? No? Why not?

  10. Well then ….it just goes to show if it is indeed politically motivated , your on the right track .

And hit them where it hurts. If it is just a case of common burglary and vandalism …then you simply have a case of yet another thug doing what thugs do.

But why a union trade center ? ….that does seem very suspicious running hot on the heels of what was , and is ….a very effective campaign.

If it is indeed politically motivated take heart. But for unions and workers who raise their heads above the parapets from here on in….realize you will attract hostile fire.

So consider this a badge of a campaign well run. If this break in is what its all about.

As mentioned above ….the bombing of the trades hall and bullet hole through Hone Hawera’s office only demonstrates that there are possibly a fair number of ‘hostile mavericks ‘ attached to the political right in this country.

  11. Our GCSB provides information to Governments which murder union organizers in their country ……….

  12. Disgusting? Definitely! Politically motivated? Maybe – how do we know it wasn’t just some street scum out to have a good time.

If of course it does turn out to be politically motivated, the acid should be put on politicos to part ways with anyone involved. But we don’t know that yet, do we?

All the best for cleaning up.

  13. Kia kaha Joe – donation made: thanks for all the great work you do for the victims of neo-liberal and trickle-down economic policies.

If there’s money from donations left over I liked the idea from Cleangreen above “Best think of placing Cameras that transmit data on WiFi so they cant destroy the evidence.”

Keep doing the work you are doing – there are caring kiwis who still have a social conscience in Aotearoa.
