  1. Last week John Minto wrote a piece on the blast from the past that is happening in Christchurch. (and I am not talking of the weather) We are being told that There Is No Alternative to selling off assets the people of the city through our council have built over the generations and should be holding for future generations. This is not the city silver; rather it’s the city’s tool box. You can help by signing the petitionhttp://tinyurl.com/md978ro
and also especially if you are a Christchurch resident making a submission on the long term plan http://www.koa.org.nz/p/submission-page.html

  2. Great to have an ‘Open Mike’ here!

Now this should be worrying the American right wing….when their flagship magazine editors give their readers an appreciation of Putin. It either says something about the editors/readers of Time Magazine ie they are smart….or Time Magazine has a large overseas readership …or the editors of Time have not been duped…which is remarkable considering the quality and anti Putin propaganda of the USA main stream media.

There was a TDB; “Open Mike”, back in October 2013, but it was discontinued by mid-November. Possibly because it became the exclusive domain of Jenny’s perpetual; end-is-nigh, routine:

      https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2013/11/19/open-mike-tuesday-19th-november/

The advantage of this new; Open Mic, is that the spelling distinguishes it from TS; Open Mike. Though that did give; King Kong (a notorious whaleoil spinner), the chance to make one of his few genuinely witty comments on TS:

[felix] …and they don’t know how to spell “mic” either…

[KK] You’ve got the wrong end of the stick. It’s not a general comments post, it’s a post about a guy called Michael who is looking to share his feelings – Open Mike.

Also, there does to seem a wider range of commenters on TDB nowadays – so hopefully the Open Mic stays this time.

      • @ PASUPIAL – Yep.

Plenty to discuss out there, so it’s up to us to use Open Mic, or we will lose it … again.

        Go TDB Open Mic.

        • Yes it is a bit like that fable of the soup cauldron….if everyone throws a vegetable or two into the pot ….and some pepper and salt and seasonings ( and some meat for the non vegetarians)….then you will get a good meal

      • @ Parsupial Good to see you here

Thanks for that little history on ‘Open Mic’, although i keep forgetting whether it is ‘Open Mik’ or ‘Open Mic’

…yes well i think it is valuable to have here on the Daily Blog as well as on the Standard…not the very least because those who are banned or who are miffed can come here

….now where is Philip Ure ?

        • what about ‘Open Mac’…or ‘Mic’s Big Mac’ or ‘Mic’s Big Maw’ with French fries and chillie sauce

  3. Jamie was on here a couple of days back; spinning his pro-gun line about why everyone should have firearms (he also cut&pasted the comment over to TS, where people made the mistake of trying to reason with him rather than just mocking his delusion). This is one of the many examples of why that would be a bad idea:

a man shot an armadillo, but ended up accidentally wounding his mother-in-law when the bullet ricocheted off the mammal’s hard shell…

Deputies say the bullet killed the armadillo, but bounced off the animal, hit a fence, traveled through the back door of the mother-in-law’s mobile home and the recliner in which she was sitting, striking her in the back.

    • lol…sounds like a very good mother-in-law tale

(oopps hope that isnt sexist?!….just as well you told it here and NOT on the Standard!…you would have had the female Hounds of the Baskervilles breathing hotly down your neck)

    • good question…my guess is that the Nacts are going try and make him look respectable….what a good job he has….how competent he is …what a respectable pillar of society he is … etc etc….and try to make all other accusations against him look insignificant

…in other words it is a cover up to make the Nacts not look so bad

    • The cover-up for Mike Sabin continues. [Text deleted. Comments made may identify nature of Court suppression orders. This would put TDB administrators at serious risk of contempt charges. I refer readers to this recent media report: Man accused of suppression breach – ScarletMod]
