The Palestine Human Rights Campaign Aotearoa/New Zealand (PHRC) works to raise public awareness of the Palestinian people’s struggle to resist Israeli military occupation and Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.
We believe that a just peace in Palestine/Israel depends upon the return of Palestinian refugees to their homeland and the dismantling of the Zionist structure of the state of Israel, recognising that the further partitioning of Palestine in order to create the so-called two-state solution would lead only to further injustice and suffering.

We advocate the primacy of international law, the acceptance of which by the Israeli regime must be the basis for the ending of Israeli military occupation and all forms of ethnic discrimination.

We work to raise awareness of the international community’s responsibility for upholding the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the urgent need for the state of Israel to be called to account for its gross abuses of Palestinian human rights.

We call for the establishment of a bi-national, secular and democratic state in Palestine/Israel, with full and equal citizenship rights for all.

We seek to bring pressure on the New Zealand Government to join the majority of the international community in requiring Israel to:

· Observe all relevant UN Resolutions and Geneva conventions
· Cease ethnic discrimination and territorial annexation
· Abandon its militarism and violence

You mean like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Syria as examples? Possibly the inhabitants of Israel may be less than enthusiastic about yor vision of paradise.

    • So because of social problems in Iran and Saudi Arabia, and a full scale civil war in Syria, that is your justification, Ben, in denying democracy and independence to Palestinians?

Tell us, Ben, does that strange piece of “logic” apply to everyone around the world? Or just people in Middle East countries? You are either being cynical, racist, or trying to validate injustice by pointing accusatory fingers at others.

      Which is it?

      • Frank, democracy and independence for the Palestinian people would be truly wonderful. Sadly, experience in that part of the world suggests that democracy would be unlikely to happen.

Could you perhaps tell me of even one country in the Middle East that is run on democratic lines?

Ben – I’ll give you two; Tunisia and Turkey. http://hotair.com/archives/2014/07/08/new-rules-the-economists-only-democracy-in-the-arab-world-isnt-israel/

However, even if not one single democracy existed in the Mioddle East, are you seriously telling us that would be justification to prevent any possibility of democratic reforms from happening at all?!

Because that seems pretty much what you’re suggesting. If so, shame on you. Shame on you for willing to deny the opportunity for democracy to some countries so that your precious Israel can justify oppression against a smaller, weaker neighbour.

        • By the way, Ben, does this sound like democracy to you;

The Israeli military has placed a female Palestinian legislator under detention for six months without trial, a lawyer for the lawmaker said Monday.

Khalida Jarrar, a senior political leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a left-wing Palestinian militant group, is being held for alleged activities in a hostile organization, lawyer Mahmoud Hassan said.

Jarrar, 52, is being held under Israeli administrative detention, which allows Israel to hold detainees for up to six months at a time without charges, the lawyer said. The detention and any extensions are approved by a judge, and evidence can be kept from defense lawyers.

Gosh, it sounds like one of those nasty Middle East regimes you keep pointing to…
