How Not To Be An Asshole is An hour long podcast brought to you by aging rappers Todd Williams aka Louie Knuxx and Dominic Hoey aka Tourettes and tormented technical genius Dan Mawby aka Dan.

Recorded in Auckland’s Onehunga, every week the trio interview people more interesting than themselves, asking the hard and sometimes inane questions of their eclectic line up of guests .
So far they’ve been joined by the likes of pro kick boxer Joey Soufpaw, Artist Elliot Stewart and politician Jacinda Ardern.

Upcoming guests include former Black Panther Emory Douglous, a nano scientist and Todd’s flatmate Sam.

    • Dominic is dyslexic. The rest of us are not so no excuses really. Perhaps he did mean ecliptic but I can’t make sense of that.

  1. Great idea, but guessing from the title, they won’t be interviewing anyone from the National party.

  2. Thought I’d ease into these podcasts by listening to the previous interview: Dr. Pani Farvid and friends. They’re on Soundcloud. Google it.

Quite a lot of politics in the Farvid episode, I recommend it, but the politics is not of the Labour vs. National, poor/rich scripted kind. Far more important stuff, as I see it. Starts out frivolous, but do not fear, it is just like watching athletes stretching before a full-out sprint. In full flight, Farvid also touches on the role of artist within society, possibly and oxymoron, which reminded me of two things:

that awful media attack on the award-winning author who suggested that maintaining an identity as a writer in NZ is hard fucking work,

and a billboard last week I saw in K’Road, Auckland, that said: “the artist must live like everyone else”.

which I interpreted as a half-arsed attempt at quoting Albert Camus without getting torn apart by everyone else; more or less proving the situation raised by award-winning artist. After much consideration, and with respect to the individuality of my fellows and betters, my answer to both is,

    Fuck Camus: Die True.

Much to my surprise, Dr. Pani Farvid almost agrees, then backs out. Which is fair enough, too. Some people have to make a living and would be no good as criminals.

P.S. Dominic’s family stories totally work.

    Dominic: Do you think so?
    Audience: Yes, praxis makes perfect.
Dom: Practice? Will that remove the urgency of the moment?
Aud: Forget the moment exists, give us more.
Dom: I’m not sure who is listening.
    Aud: Mainly just us.
    Maia: Hello.

Can’t figure out if the title of the series is ironic or an exploratory thesis. Both would be reasonable. All seem less arseholian when deep in discussion.
