  1. Politician of the year, good grief, that’s a desperate call. Did Key nominate himself like Muldoon did for a Knighthood?

    • Ah, yes, those who nominate themselves. Years back, when Brian Tamaki proclaimed himself Bishop, there was a hilarious letter to the editor printed in The Herald. It was at around the same time as Destiny were on their vehement anti-gay crusade and planning the Harbour Bridge walk. (The exaggerated spelling is as I remember it being printed, not my addition.) I’ve never again seen such a witty takedown as this one.

      “Would somebody puh-leeeeeeez tell “Bishop” Brian Tamaki that a queen can take a bishop from any position.”

  2. Its all about winning elections and from a viewpoint of functional effectiveness what other NZ politician compares?
    If one thinks that it is about leadership and the future the man is an amoral ratbag!
