Let’s briefly recap Key’s first 3 weeks of National’s 3rd term

It’s been almost 3 weeks since the National Party won a historic and powerful win, despite dirty politics and mass surveillance lies…

…so let’s just have a quick gander at the Government that the sleepy hobbits of NZ have now rallied to and rewarded with a 3rd term.

1 – Lied about re-invading Iraq
Before the election we were not going to send troops into Iraq. After the election, now we are going to send troops in and pass more security laws – yes, more security laws – to stop IS fighters. Can anyone explain to me why we as NZers are about to side with the Syrian regime that has tortured to death 10 000+ civilians and killed tens of thousands more? All Key keeps telling us is that we would be appalled by brutal beheadings, but Saudi Arabia does beheadings too and Key isn’t suggesting we invade them. How on earth NZers can just shrug and side with a brutal Syrian dictator who has killed and tortured to death tens of thousands of his own civilian population and pretend that’s fine because Key is khomfortable with it is beyond me. How can Key sleep at night spending millions to send the SAS to reinvade Iraq while 250 000 kids live in poverty?

2 – Will sell off 30% of State Houses
That’s right the solution to more and more desperate families living in cars is to flog off 30% of the State Housing stock to churches for them to run them. Abdication of social responsibility didn’t come up much in the election. The real twist of the knife is that National didn’t even campaign on selling 30% of state houses off, that’s how easy it is to manipulate the sleepy hobbits.

3 – Has redesigned Security apparatus so that Key can’t be held accountable
I love how Key has now redesigned the Intelligence portfolios so that he can’t be held accountable any longer, Gordon Campbell makes this point on Scoop

So, if a Key is playing the ‘leadership” role in policy formation at our security agencies – and logically, if the buck stops with the leader – does that mean Key will be accountable via OIA requests and ministerial inquiries if and when a controversy erupts over the activities of these agencies? Probably not. In future, it will be Finlayson who will be signing off the interception warrants and steering the agency-related legislation through the House. As a result, it is hard to see how the role that Key has assigned himself – the Minister of National Security and Intelligence – will be accountable to anyone, given that the nominal responsibility for agency operations will be being handled by Finlayson. In effect, Finlayson will operate as a buffer for Key, against any external questioning.

…So Key has more power with the SIS and GCSB but can’t be held accountable for them any longer, is flogging off 30% of State Houses and is taking us off to war with allies who have tortured to death tens of thousands of their own civilians.

That’s all in just 3 weeks.

Many NZers invested so much personal ego into the vacant aspiration of #TeamKey they remain wilfully prejudiced against any criticism of him. I get the feeling now with many that Key could shoot a pensioner in the face live on Seven Sharp and they would still argue the Prime Minister was acting in self defence.

Welcome to the new Nu Zilind, land of the wrong uptight crowd.

  1. There’s a lot of bad news about the economy as well. Has the media kept a lid on it til after the election?

    Fonterra payout plunges
    NZ dollar to drop
    Business confidence falling
    Tax revenue down
    Auckland landlords to hike rents
Gen Y locked out of home ownership

  2. 1. He will make money out of sending other peoples children to die. As for the poor kids in NZ…..are there no workhouses? are there no prisons?

    2. Bill English made it clear that State Housing will be sold if National gets back into Parliament. as for the Homeless of NZ, the soon to be Homeless and the overcrowded? …..are there no poor houses? are there no prisons?

    3. One can not become a totalitarian Leader while being accountable. One becomes a totalitarian Leader by giving oneself all the privileges and none of the risks.

  3. It will make life more dangerous for New Zealanders overseas. Up until now, Isis has just grabbed westerners from spheres they operate in but I suspect that as the coalition against them grows, they will start pursuing more high-profile targets in Europe such as those manning our diplomatic stations and trade representatives. Even JK’s own daughter could be at risk in Paris. We need to tread warily.

  4. Keys is just getting started .

Once the smokos and lunch breaks are gone and we are all on casual contracts with min wages , its onward to the jewel in the neoliberal crown ; the passing of the Trans Pacific Partnership .

He can pass this unassisted Nat/UF/ACT/Maori P: 64 to left block 57.

I predict the Maori Party wont go for it because it overules the Treaty of Waitangi so the vote looks more like 62 to 59.

It appears Act and United Future will back it so there seems little we can do to stop it unless 3 brave National Mp’s abstain or cross the floor …..well its a thought …

    1. If the left block had won the election , it would have been stopped in its tracks. NZF, Mana, and the Greens are anti TPP even if Labour isnt.

    2. If Winston had formed a govt with National he would he prevented it. NZF are anti TPP and it looked like he would hold the balance of power.

    3. But the unthinkable has happened: smirky chimp has an outright majority in the house and is about to sell NZ out to the American 1% to extract even more wealth from Hobbitville .Even if working conditions are worse , the environment is worse , public health is strangled ,and financial reform is impossible. American corporations will directly or indirectly draft our legislation not our own parliament .

    But he’s such a nice guy !

Break the spell hobbits , judge Keys not on his persona but on his actions .

Would a nice guy take away your lunch break ?

  5. I burst out laughing when I saw the news item about Vladimir Putin’s birthday being celebrated with paintings depicting him as a Greek god. Then I remembered our illustrious PM posing with the ABs, and I stopped laughing.

  6. On the bright side twenty million dollars worth of farmland has been sold up North and not a Chinese buyer in sight! And more good news, Landcorp is endeavouring to start a programme to train young people, including Maori, on farms in the north. Just thought this blog was in need of a bit of positive blogging.
