After claiming there was no middle ground. After claiming there was no mass surveillance. After calling Glenn Greenwald a henchman and a loser. After all the mainstream media pundits screamed at Kim’s decision to take his evidence to Parliamentary Privileges Committee and said Key was safe – it now turns out Key has admitted Snowden is right and NZ information is available via XKeyscore…

PM: Snowden ‘may well be right’
Prime Minister John Key acknowledged today that NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden’s claim that New Zealanders’ data is accessible through the controversial XKeyscore system “may well be right”.

…remember, there was no middle ground, Key was right, Glenn Greenwald and Edward Snowden and Julian Assange was wrong. Remember? Now, Key admits Snowden is right.
If it’s true NZers vote governments out and don’t vote them in, then the people of NZ have as many reasons as they ever will to dump Key.
Vote this traitor out.

  1. Well, there’s a revelation from the school-yard larikin. As usual, he’s on the top of his game when it comes to matters of accuracy and truth.

  2. When is the next-last Roy Morgan poll due out?
It SEEMS (???) to be the least incorrect and biased of the polls, and I’d love to know where they think the voters are at…………..and SURELY sometime NOW, the National vote must be collapsing………….all the Nat’s voters can’t be die hard, red neck banjo players, who believe JK walks on water???????
Did anyone else see the ‘after voting’ poll from London? Good for the Green coming ‘top’ (35%??), but how can our ex-pats vote Nat’s as second (on 30%ish??……doesn’t the UK press report on Dirty-corrupt politics and KDC/Greenwald/Snowden, NSA, PM lying etc etc).
Maybe they’ve been too long out of NZ & don’t know how it’s changed……for the worst !!!!

    • Thanks for that link Z.

      “NATIONAL SECURITY

Compromise would damage the security, defence or international relations of New Zealand and/or friendly governments

TOP SECRET — Damage national interests in an exceptionally grave manner
      · Directly threaten the internal stability of NZ or friendly countries
      · Lead directly to widespread loss of life
      · Cause exceptional damage to the security of NZ forces or allies
      · Cause exceptional damage to the operational effectiveness of NZ forces or friendly forces
      · Cause exceptional damage to the continuing effectiveness of extremely valuable security or intelligence operations
      · Cause exceptional damage to relations with other governments
      · Cause severe long term damage to significant national infrastructure

SECRET — Damage national interests in a serious manner
      · Raise international tension
      · Seriously damage relations with friendly governments
      · Seriously damage the security of NZ forces or friendly forces
      · Seriously damage the operational effectiveness of NZ forces or friendly forces
      · Seriously damage the effectiveness of valuable security or intelligence operations
      · Seriously damage the internal stability of NZ or friendly countries
      · Shut down or substantially disrupt significant national infrastructure.”

You know what I don’t get about all this secret squirrel stuff – its that surely if there was a situation in NZ that fitted into the TOP SECRET category – then this situation should be instantly made publicly available – after all, given the extremis of TOP SECRET, we would all need to know this instantly – right then!
      WHAT IS GOING ON HERE????

Why would there be law – this keeping a major event TOP SECRET from those who it would directly involve – us, the public, our neighbours, our children? I mean, why this be a law – it is direct contravention of our Human Rights. Our right to know!!!!!!!! Our country!!!!!!!!!!

      WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!!!!
We have been tipped upside down, and our existing security networks, by the very nature of this hastily inserted Law, aren’t allowed to protect us – because they aren’t allowed to warn us of any major event – right on our backdoor step!

      I WANT NZ BACK!!!!!!!!!!

FJK you TRAITOR and LOSER. BE GONE!!!!!!!!!

      Opinion and belief.

      • Just remember its not ‘terrorists’ they want information on – its the likes of you and me…the public , to not only know all our movement, attitudes , who we communicate with ,when etc…….they want dirt and weaknesses on everybody so they can exploit it should the need arise…

        remember the four D’S.

It is in their best interests that they do this…remember this and you will do well to understand their evil.

As I know you realise , MISTERY …..just saying it for the benefit of those that find this so inconcievable , ..grappling for the first time perhaps at the concept of deep govt.

        Especially the young.

It is a reality that can make hearts heavy…but knowledge is power…and now we know.

Classified By: AMB. CHARLES J. SWINDELLS FOR REASON 1.5 (C). 1. (S) The National Security Agency (NSA) has requested a new, permanent position in Wellington attached to, but not residing at, the Embassy (reftel) – a Deputy Special U.S. Liaison Officer. Based on a thorough review of the policy and resource implications of this request, the Ambassador recommends that the State Department approve this request. He believes that the potential benefits of the new position — in terms of closer signals intelligence cooperation with New Zealand — far outweigh the additional administrative burden it will place on the Embassy. 2. (S) The Ambassador’s recommendation reflects the following analysis. The new position will advance US interests in New Zealand by improving liaison and cooperation on vital signals intelligence matters. This is an area where the US and NZ already work together closely and profitably, and continuing to build and expand that relationship clearly stands to benefit both countries. This is especially true in the post-September 11 environment, where NZ sigint capabilities significantly enhance our common efforts to combat terrorism in the region and the world. The Embassy already has a close working relationship with the NZ Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) that will be enhanced by the establishment of this new position. Embassy also has an understanding with NSA that the new position will cover Congressionally mandated information security requirements that neither the Defense Attache Office nor our State officers have the technical expertise to undertake. 3. (S) On administrative matters, the GCSB will provide the new NSA officer with office space; office furniture; computer, telephone and other equipment and supplies. NSA will fully fund the position and will pay for housing and purchase all residential furnishings directly. NSA will contract with the Embassy for the following ICASS services: Basic Package; Community Liaison Office services; Financial Management Services (medium level support); General Services (low level support); and Short-Term Residential Lease Building Operations. As a result of these arrangements, the resource impact of the new position on this Special Embassy Program post will be minimized, and can be fully absorbed within post’s current ICASS system. 4. (S) Based on the scenario above, there should be no start-up costs associated with this new position. Using Embassy’s FY 2004 service costs as a base, the total annual estimated cost of providing ICASS services is USD 23,649. 5. (S) Embassy recommends that Washington agencies determine the appropriate level and type of accreditation for this new

  4. How do I lose MSN as my immediate news startup with Firefox, it’s appalling & the glowing tribute to Key this morning made me vomit in my cornflakes, some suggestions please.

    • Stephen – if you think that made you want to chuck up, have a read of Fran O’Sullivan’s piece in today’s NZH, stating FJKs integrity is still intact! That will have you going both ends!

  5. Why is it I still get this scary feeling, that, somehow, key will sneak back into office……I’m amazed at the “it’s all bullshit and national are great” sentiments being expressed around all my points of contact in NZ…….
I’ve voted, but if key gets back in I’ll resign myself to dying overseas…….

  6. Well, that is an interesting development. Bottom line though: The MSM will still spin this National’s way.

David Cunliffe has one chance to get cut-through – in the debate tonight. If he does not absolutely shred Key, then hope fades fast. Your time to shine, DC.

  7. Yes but what if the Neo Right that is the voter who votes National / ACT / etc are in themselves also bent . Therefore , it doesn’t matter what jonky does , says or lies about does it ? He may well get ‘ back in ‘ because there are also a lot of bent Kiwis . And there are a lot of bent Kiwis , otherwise jonky would have been gone years ago . In fact , it’s probably safe to say if there were not so many bent Kiwis , jonky would never have been voted in , in the first place . Seriously , we’ve been groomed to take care of number one and fuck the rest of ya ! Feather your own nest while you have feathers etc .

Hearing Cunliffe going on about being ‘ positive ‘ and ‘ fair ‘ must be like a battle cry for the Neo Liberals .

People born during 1984 are now thirty years old . That is just freaky to me . That’s thirty years of non stop , neo liberal indoctrination .

I have actually heard people say that . ” Yea , ok , John Key’s a liar and a con man but who’s better for the job of running the country ? ” They stop only just short of saying ” …and I’m ok with that . ”

I guess that’s why we have laws and rules . So that we , the Mobocracy don’t eat ourselves alive .

And what might happen to us Mob then if we have a bent Government making up the Laws and Rules ?

The Governor General is going to have to disolve the National Government immediately pending an inquiry . The election is going to have to be postponed while we wait for the outcome of that inquiry . Otherwise , what the fuck are we doing on Saturday then ?

    ( Eye roll please )
I mean , does the Queen know about this ? This bloody mess . QE 2 is our head of state after all . Not the fucking NSA or the fucking US Gubbamint or the US Governments Mc Donalds Masters serving us up a batch of Bullshit burgers .

  8. Latest roy morgan poll is out

Again, still too close to call. National-led Government: National Party, Maori Party, ACT NZ, United Future on 49% (up from 46.5% in August 31 poll)

Opposition Parties: Labour Party, Green Party, Internet-Mana Party alliance, NZ First; down to 46.5 (from 49% in August 31 poll)

Nothing more than an old switcherooni.

    National is up 1.5
    Labour down 2
    Greens down 2.5
    NZ1st up 2
    Maori Party up 1

No real change for everyone else.

Even so, based on those numbers, assuming Dunne is gone from Ohariu, and even with Seymour in Epsom, it still leaves National short. Have assumed conservatives get 4.5% and are out of parliament. The percentage signs relate to the party vote gained on the day.

I am worried that Labour will get less overall, particularly as the weather on the day is shaping up to be nasty.

    ACT New Zealand 1.50% 2 MPs (1 electorate + 1.5% PV)
Green Party 16.00% 21 MPs (no electorates)
    Internet MANA 2.00% 3 MPs (1 electorate +2% PV)
    Labour Party 26.00% 34 MPs (29 Electorates+ 5 list)
    Māori Party 1.00% 2 Mps (2 electorates)
    National Party 39.00% 50 Mps (37 electorates + 13 list)
New Zealand First Party 7.00% 9 Mps (no electorates)

    121 seats total.

    Using the numbers:

    National + Act + MP = 54 seats
Even if Dunne gets in, that still only gives them 55 seats

Labour + Green + NZ1st = 64 seats, if Dunne gets in, that makes it 63 seats for the left block. I have factored in the probability of Ginny winning Ohariu.

I can’t see Winston wanting to be part of a four headed monster, or even in a Nat+NZ1+Act/MP/Dunne configuration.

However, If National got 42% and Labour got 23% on Saturday in their respective party votes (n/c to electorates won), then the left block would likely need IMP to be part of a formal coalition, or in a confidence and supply arrangement.

Other alternative is that Lab+Grn+NZ1 combined on a 60 seat bloc in 121 seat parliament could run a minority government.

    A national+act+uf+mp bloc is only 58 seats in a 121 seat parliament.

I haven’t done any configurations with Conservatives as I believe people will shy away from them at the last minute and switch to Winsome Winnie instead of Crazy Colon.

Overall conclusion? This election is coming down to the wire.
