Video on Demand: Moment of Truth

Video by eCast:

The Daily Blog presents here video of the Moment of Truth public meeting. (Scroll forward to where it begins at 21 mins 54 secs) The meeting featured Glenn Greenwald, Kim Dotcom, Robert Amsterdam, Julian Assange, and Edward Snowden…

  1. So the moment of truth so far has been about Mega, a new encryption tool from KDC, and a product placement ad for Diet Coke.

    • Just a note for people who vote down on people saying thanks. Do we really need you to be negative about politeness. Mind you just goes to show how far the VRW have fallen in this country – they are nothing more than godless, amoral, hippocrates.

  2. People saying where was the bombshell? – Getting all those freedom fighters to speak in our town hall, was the BOMBSHELL!
    Not one thing…ALL OF IT.

    • Bollocks. There was nothing of any substance proven tonight. Just some allegations from a convicted fraudster and another wanted to face charges. If that’s all there is, KDC should be arrested for false advertising under the Consumer Affairs legislation.

      • From the CGA webpage:

“The Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) sets out guarantees that goods and services must meet when sold by someone in trade – that is, a retailer or service provider.”

Keyword – Sold. No admission charges were required, it was a free event, so your argument has already fallen flat, without even taking your personal bias into account.

      • Dream on mate. John Key has to now resign if he has a shred of integrity.
You standing there your hands in your ears saying “not listening not listening” is pathetic, utterly uninteresting, and utterly irrelevant. No amount of repeating the bullshit lies of the national party and their leader will make those lies true. Now suck it up and stop whining like a petulant child.

      • … and yet, if you have nothing to fear, Anonymous ACT Supporter Intrinsicvalue, why hide behind a psuedonym?

But that’s ok. The next time a Labour-led government is in power, I’ll drop a line to one of my mates in the guvmint and ask them to trace your IP number.

        Hey, nothing to fear, right?

Your de facto support of increasing state surveillance and intrusion in our lives makes the rest of your “small government” rhetoric so much garbage.

I’m no longer surprised by the sheer mindless dedication people like you show to your Dear Leader.

  3. Could you imagine Key trying to debate any of these guys? I doubt this will change the way supporters of the current govt will vote next weekend, but hopefully it will force them to confront the fact that the plucky, fair minded, independent NZ they like to think they live in is in fact a work of fiction, worthy of the PMs biography.

      • Key interrupts, misrepresents, dissembles, and distracts. He does NOT debate. He is not capable of that.

He relies instead on a tried and proven strategy for moving the masses: repeating lies until people think they are the truth, and attacking the character of his opponents. I expect, Intrinsic, that you will follow his example now as ever.

      • @ IV – ha ha love your warped sense of humour.

FJK hasn’t the guts to be interviewed by journalists of integrity. Because they will get to the truth. Instead he faces the useless motley lot from msm here, who play the game nicely, just for him!

      • Yes, a master at coherent thinking as evidenced by this pearler from yesterday’s lovefest with Hosking on ZB:
John Key on the Moment of Truth

“Dotcom is trying to save Dotcom’s butt – so he’s bought(sic) in – and it’s a reasonably large one – so he’s bought (sic) in all of these people hasn’t he? So he’s bought(sic) in three little butts to try and save his butt, and it won’t work. They’ll say and do anything and they’ll bamboozle people and for two days I’ll be saying he’s wrong and I’m right…”

        At the end:
“The Head of GCSB and SIS had never heard of Kim Dotcom prior to the raid, and it’s impossible that they briefed me. And I probably shouldn’t tell you all this stuff – but they – I have anyway now, too bad – but they, they, they didn’t know the guy…”

Now, we all know that the GCSB was illegally spying on Dotcom before the raid, and we have our Head of State and overseer of the GCSB and SIS casually and inappropriately releasing purportedly sensitive information during a puff piece interview. And then dismissing it will a “I have anyway now – too bad”.

That he debates at the level of adolescent insults is too kind.

        • Key was brilliant with Hosking. In an economy of words he out these turkeys to the sword. NZ’er s love him. Get over it.

          • Of course he was. Hosking has already stated his support and undying love for your Dear Leader.

I’m sure a Stalin, Franco, Hitler, Pinochet, Idi Amin, et al, also had their admirers.

Heck, there are still a few right wing morons who still think Nixon was innocent!

You’re a wally, Anonymous ACT Supporter Intrinsicvalue. Not a very perceptive one, at that.

  4. No bombshell, but further proof that we have a choice between a government focused on NZ issues and one focused on corporate concerns. Our choice on Saturday…

  5. @ Tony S . You poor thing . Born without an imagination . Are you an accountant ?

And yes ! The Daily Blog ! Fucking amazing ! I’m so impressed . xxx

  6. Thanks to all involved. Bit of a shock though that NSA are stationed in Auckland.wonder where. And the detail that NSA can access. What do we do next? Change the govt for a start.

    • There isn’t enough information in the MSM for the public to make an informed decision about this – it’s not just about Key. The establishment of the NSA and NZ’s involvement in Five eyes grew out of the extraordinary events that occurred after the end of WW2. Greenwald incorrectly referred to Key as the head of state – Key is not the head of state, a foreigner is head of state and the commander in chief of NZ state security apparatus. NZ has always been a bit player in Five eyes because NZ has never been a sovereign nation.

    • @Jrobin – probably based at the US consulate offices in Auckland!

Now after the revelation of an established US base already here, FJK needs to answer some more hard questions about his part in this!

  7. That was certainly an impressive event, great stream quality.

With such high-profile speakers, no doubt this event will make news globally, in which case Key and this government have greatly tarnished any remaining semblance of credibility.

Now we await Key’s response. It’ll be interesting to see what strategy he uses, will he continue spouting further angry diatribes? In which case, not a good look.

Wonder where those NZ NSA facilities are?

    • @AndyK & JRobin:

I reckon they (the NZ branch of the NSA) might be in the same place where the NZ Internet gateway is housed. At least in the same building.
      Just my thoughts on this.

  8. Moment of truth, and I thought I was a conspiracy theorist? not any more my eyes are now wide open, read below.

Thank you Glen, Nicky, Kim, Robert, Julian, and all TDB.

What an amazing collection of unselfish hero’s of our fragile freedoms in our time.
All these thugs below are waging war on the world’s people.

Not only is the motion picture industry or Warner behind it along with US Government.

It is highly conceivable so is Bilderberg that is also a major player behind it all mark my words.

Their goal is a World Government run exclusively by their hand-picked puppets.

I will keep saying, look at the “Digital Project” Bilderberg has placed as one of their top priorities.

The Bilderberg Group founded by NAZI Party members has the most influential group of the most powerful & rich together.

Is it relevant that John Key has been to Bilderberg secret meetings also?

    List of Bilderberg participants 4
    New Zealand
    • John Key (2011-2012), Prime Minister of New Zealand

No Bilderberg meeting agenda has ever been made public. “It is the epitome of low-profile dark ops, a shadow government hidden in a doorway.” According to critics and close observers, it’s agenda is to weaken all world leadership but their own. It is also, according to a U.S. law called the Logan Act, [15] illegal:

Bilderberg have been for years planning the new world order to control us all in a one world Government of their making.

Creator and chairman of the Bilderbergers was a card carrying member of Hitler’s SS and repeatedly lied when asked if he was a Nazi party member as a student (separate page all about Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands)

  9. Loved it. Although I’m not sure it will turn the election, I think this is so big that it now extends way beyond the election.

  10. @ vutekno .
What the fuck do you expect ? Unicorns shitting jelly beans ? Jesus , that was amazing . And you , in your libertine excesses expect more ! Gimme more ? More ?
It’s time you , and you’re lazy fucking mates get off your arses and actually do something with what you’ve just been given .

I don’t like your insinuations , that there could have been more . It’s beneath me to read that shit . The Daily Bog , Dotcom , Hare did an exceptional job and you whine that it was a fizzer ! Like your poor little diddums fire work . Are you fucking serious ? Grow the fuck up !

    • It made me really angry too.
Lies and deceptions, and the loss of our country. It really hurts!

FJK! And F all the corrupt treasonish govts!!!!!!!!!!!!

And F the GCSB! And the US! And Australia!!!!!!!!
      F them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Just because I was convicted of several crimes, and received a suspended prison sentence in 1994 for computer fraud and data espionage, and another suspended prison sentence in 2003 for insider trading and embezzlement, doesn’t mean the email isn’t true.

I have proof that the moon landing was a hoax.

    • @KDB:
You don’t want to go believing that stuff – its all just right-wing conspiracy theories and govt bullying and thuggery.
Scared of being exposed right then, so they picked on this particular NZ citizen – but today, they have been exposed for the beasts they are.

    • There’s a guy in NZ who spent some time in jail who turned rather well – McCready I think his name is.

Your argument is fallacious – you should learn why publishing it brings you neither credit nor support.

    • KDB – playing the man and not the issue? So, you haven’t got anything constructive to counter the allegations made by Snowden, et al?

Hmmm. That’s pretty much been par-for-course for most of you right wing twits.

  12. Team NZ Herald Slater’s drop-box have all come out punching for Team Key.

Bless them, don’t they each deserve a dog biscuit.

not provided evidence beyond circumstantial that the GCSB is actually conducting mass surveillance on New Zealanders.-Audrey Young

there was barely any fresh substance to chew on – Toby Manhire

things had not changed that much from when it began. -John Armstrong

If Kim Dotcom thinks his Moment of Truth will affect the outcome of Saturday’s election, he is seriously deluded -Fran O’Sullivan

  13. Thanks for the great night’s entertainment. I see nobody mentioned the actual requirement in the GCSB bill that any interception of private communications of a NZ Citizen or resident requires a warrant signed by the Commissioner of Security Warrants and the Minister, but that’s only facts.

    Three more years girls.

    • Right, so wheres the warrant for the information already intercepted dick wad? Guess your a brown nosing shit talker, #seeyoulaterteamkey #pieceofSh*t

    • How naive. The GCSB have broken the law before, and had their legislation re-written retroactively to cover their arses. Do you really trust the organisation that has done this, or their idiot minister who has been caught lying more times than you or I have fingers and toes to count on? Pithy assurances that they need a warrant are meaningless. They acted illegally once, and they’ll do it again. Wake up.

  14. Give us a body that says.Iwas their when they told John, this billionaire Dotcom has just bought the Criscoes mansion.JUST A BODY TO SAY THAT,thats all we need to confirm that what we know our P,M.has lied in our Parliament.Dotcom and his wealth and no understanding of the kiwi mind set will Dotcom ever be able to purchase.

We all know that Key,new long before we did, that some forgein German moved into his electorate with mega bucks.Dotcom, has to learn to know about us Kiwi,we know we are looked at,have been for how long Minty,we know that like when a All Black scrum is week.Dotcom all he has to have to prove,is John Key is telling lies, this person was here. Not going to happen, just got this email.

  15. Amsterdam would be a great man to lead the Royal Commission. Smart, clear, calm, and committed – and right up there on Commonwealth constitutional issues.

  16. Nothing but rehashed information providing a PR disaster.

Whoever is running PR for that lot should be fired. If you’re going to setup like that five days out, you must deliver a big, smoking gun.

  17. At the end of the day New Zealanders care about issues that matter. Issues like what is the best flavoured ice cream and whether to listen to The Rock or The Edge radio stations. Whether New Zealanders are being spied on is immaterial compared to what is happening on this week’s episode of The Block and when Katy Perry’s new album is out.

  18. Yes Mike, the dumbing down process is almost complete.
With a society that has a ‘don’t care about what they (the government) are doing’ attitude, and a paid off media, that backs it up, control by governments and powerful corporates becomes easy. And we wave goodbye to our freedoms.

  19. “All Truth passes thru three stages: First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident.”
