Who do people believe - dotcom or key

.

Dear Leader Key has continually refuted knowing of Kim Dotcom until one day prior to the police raid on his Coatsville mansion on 20 January 2012, as he confirmed in Parliament eight months later,

David Shearer: Does he stand by his statement that he first heard of Kim Dotcom on 19 January 2012, the day before the police raids on Dotcom’s residence?

Rt Hon JOHN KEY: Yes.

He has been quizzed numerous times on this point., and each time he has given the same response; he only became aware of the impending Hollywood-style raid on Kim Dotcom’s mansion the day prior to the event.

Now check out his response in this Youtube vid, posted on 25 November, 2012 – ten months after the raid – from a TVNZ Q+A interview;

Notice how Key frames his response to  Kim Dotcom’s answers to the late Paul Holmes;

Holmes: “Do you you believe John Key has lied?”

Kim Dotcom: “Yes.”

Holmes: “Do you have evidence of this?”

Kim Dotcom: “Yes.”

Key responded;

“Ok, so the answer to both those questions is ‘no’. Um, he’s completely and factually incorrect. So to say that someone lies means that you have to deliberately mislead people.  And there’s no way I have done that. My office has gone through every piece of correspondence my electoral office has had. Every piece of correspondence that I’ve had that could be anyway related to this area. Any meetings I have had.  What my ministries have done that I’m responsible for. There is absolutely nothing there.”

Key did not reply with an outright “no”.

Instead Key referred to searches of his electoral office; correspondences, records of meeting, and ministeries.

He wasn’t searching his memory for previous knowledge of activities relating to  Kim Dotcom.

He was searching files to ensure there was no evidence of previous awareness of activities relating to  Kim Dotcom.

Verdict: deflection/outright lie

  1. ‘Mad’ magazine used to have a cartoon which showed what a person was saying and thought bubbles which showed what they were actually thinking.

    “… every piece of correspondence … Every piece of correspondence …..Any meetings I have had….There is absolutely nothing there.”

    Thought bubbles: “I was simply TOLD about the guy, and we talked about him. Man you ask dumb, easy questions – thank God.”

  2. A few things about that video of Key trying to deny he knew Dotcom before the raid, we will find out September 15 that he DID know about him (can’t wait), also he says, “So to say that someone lies means that you have to deliberately mislead people”, well, yesterday’s LIE that he said that the burning effigy video was posted by the Internet Party, when clearly it wasn’t, so, he lied, deliberately misleading people (again), also he “says” the Government “doesn’t care about Kim Dotcom”, when in fact they sure do, because it has been a topic ever since before the Illegal raid. This will be the downfall of John Key as we know him, he’ll be proven to be wrong. 🙂

  3. Eyes to the left = he lied.

    I completed a seminar on customer behaviour during my former life as an employee of a large corporation.
    At that seminar we were shown methodologies to influence customers opinions about a product we were offering, and during discussions with our customers we were taught how to read their thoughts by studying their facial expressions.

    One sure way we were told was to watch their eyes when we asked a question and if the customer moved his eyes to the left, then they were searching for a excuse or make up some story.
    As I have witnessed this response from our “Dear leader” (not mine thanks) we see many occasions where JK has either made up a story or lied.

    All your points are valid Frank keep up the good work.
