The largest voting block last election were non voters – the difference this election is you

  1. Interesting to see the Green Party has now taken over the Internet Mana Party for the most votes on this site. IMP seems have started with a bang but its support seems to be diminishing comparatively.

I’d like to believe that IMP is going to bring in new voters but I’m inclined at the moment to the view that they are simply going to cannibalise most of their votes from the Greens.

  2. The Greens are taking votes from Labour, IMP are taking votes from the Greens and someone is taking votes from NZF, probably the Conservatives. Basically, the votes of the Left are just being exchanged between the existing parties of the Left. There is no evidence of the non votes coming on board which will be needed to win the election.

    • This isn’t in fact true IMP are taking NZ First vote, people who have never voted and most interestingly lots of urban men who vote national

  3. This year I’ve found five people who did not vote in 2011. I’ve talked with them and persuaded them to vote on 20 September.

Interestingly, none of them are fans of Key and National – all expressed a view they want to get rid of this government.

All that’s needed is to engage and motivate casual voters to get out on election day and tick those boxes (whether Labour, Greens, or Mana Internet).

So I’ll be out on election day, picking up folk in my car and driving them them to the local voting station.

If we all found at least one non-voter and encouraged and supported them to vote, the Left could win this election so easily that it would send shock waves through the Right Wing establishment.

I plan to do my bit.

It’ll be my “christmas prezzie” to myself.
