Now John Banks is guilty, the questions that need answering:
1: How did the Police get it so wrong not to prosecute in the first place?
2: When Key said “I accept John Banks at his word, no charges have been laid, he’s not going to be found guilty, he hasn’t broken the law”, should Key have been far more on top of this and taken the time to read the papers he refused to look at?
3: How corrupt is Key’s authority now he has to be propped up by an MP guilty of breaking electoral law? Helps explain Key’s desire for an early election doesn’t it?
Remember Key on TV saying that the election date just needed to be fine tuned, that there was a few dates that needed to be sorted..MSM took that as being the finalising of dates for his trip to Washinton, how wrong they were it was the calculation of when they could get to an election without the indignity of having to hold a bi-election in Epsom
Banks remaining in parliament does not help those of us trying to get out the vote in the various campaigns that is for sure.
I was surprised that he was even found guilty given the institutional (dirty rich white males club) and Prime Ministerial support he has received. But maybe some in the judiciary were insulted enough by his blatant deceptions. While the moist paper towlette is being prepared to flay his wrist with we should reflect on ACT aka National’s ‘bitch’.
ACT smuggled in National’s true policies; an unaccountable super city, charter schools, a sadistic war on the poor and Chicago school labour market deregulation. ACT should go down with Banksie.
There is another question. Passenger, crew, or cabbage ?
1. The Police get uncomfortable dealing with politicians who break the law. Is it perhaps because the Commissioner, who is the head of the Police, is appointed by the Minister of Police? And sadly political influence no matter how disguised is a real factor/threat.
2. Key’s wilful blindness meant he didn’t have to take action and get rid of Banks. And frankly it was Banksy’s bungling of this matter that was the issue for Key, not the deception (sweet as) because that deception didn’t touch the sides compared to what is going on at National. We still don’t know who the Antoine’s donors are, do we?
3. Nearly half the voting public seem ever so comfortable with being lied to regularly, the wealthy buying Ministers and guiding policies, Ministers intervening personally in matters that make money for their own families or have family connections or have donor money involved, so Keys authority, even more corrupted as it is with Banks remaining on, is par for the course.
They’ll probably get a lift in their poll ratings as a ridiculous irony!
The lift in the polls is inevitable.
It is National’s Hollow Men influencing the pollsters to appeal to “sheep” voters….
ie if you tell people long enough, and early enough that Labour will only get 21% and National will get 74 %, sheep voters will go with the flock.

This is the sad state of affairs N.Z has found itself in.
So unsophisticated are we as a people, brainwashing the electorate has been as simple as taking candy from a baby.
History,both World and NewZealand, should be compulsory in our education curriculum to at least go some way to making people more aware of what’s going on around them!
Keeping the majority numbed out on rugby,alcohol,fast food,cooking shows(how ironic),home reno programmes,endless sports news and weather reports,inane wall to wall articles about Key and his wife in womans mags like New Idea,Womans Weekly etc all serve a purpose in the dumbing down process.
Unnoticed lying to the electorate is then a mere bagatelle!
