What’s the difference between John Key and a Predator Drone? Trick question, there is no difference, both are controlled by Washington. Last nights astonishing revelations on Campbell Live prove how true that joke really is.

The timeline Campbell Live have established is damning.

March 8th 2011 – Jerry Mateparae is stepped down as head of the GCSB.

March 15th 2011 – Top NSA spook, James Clapper, flies to NZ to meet with Key to discuss ‘synchronicity’ between the NSA and GCSB.

March 22nd 2011 – High level intelligence meetings

May 2011 – McCully visits Washington

June 17th 2011 – Key meets with Ian Fletcher for breakfast at Stamford Plaza.

July 22nd 2011 – Key is invited to Washington as pay back for this new ‘synchronicity’.

July 26th 2011 – Key side steps normal protocols and appoints his old school friend Ian Fletcher to take over at the GCSB.

October 2011 – John Key, the head of the SIS and NZDF join Ian Fletcher, the MFAT Head, and the DPMC boss for a secret dinner at the British High Commissioner’s home

December 8th 2011 – A letter states that Key is going to meet Ian Fletcher on 12th December

December 12th 2011 – Key meets with Ian Fletcher.

December 14th 2011 – The Police boss responsible for spying on Dotcom meets John Key with other intelligence agencies present.

December 16th 2011 – Kim Dotcom starts to be illegally spied upon.

January 2012 – Raid on Kim Dotcom.

What Campbell Live exposes is a covert effort to expand the GCSB into corporate spying for America. To use the spy apparatus ability to spy for corporations who make their profit margins national security issues. It means the entire case against Kim Dotcom has been entrapment, it means Key has lied to NZ about when he was informed about Kim Dotcom, it means we are stooges to America’s mass surveillance paranoia and it means John Key has sold NZ out by eroding our collective civil liberties for subservience to Washington.

Key’s so comfortable about using drone strikes for extrajudicial assassinations I suspect he runs the country from a Lazyboy weaing a onesie. TVNZ could replay footage of Key signing away sovereignty to USA while personally drone striking civilians & he’d still be “khumfortable”.

This country owe John Campbell and the Campbell Live team a standing ovation for the courage they have shown in pursuing this story. This is true journalism at its finest, not the National Party broadcast that is Seven Sharp. John and Campbell Live are revealing the true story of Power that John Key is desperate to hide. There was once a time NZ would stand as one in disgust at this spineless subservience to America, we need to remind ourselves that we are not Obama’s South Pacific golf caddy and need that reminder this election.

Let’s hope this special on Campbell Live exposing the corruption of the GCSB eclipses the mainstream media story on cricket corruption. The irony is that ff Helen Clark had pulled the shit Key has by expanding mass surveillance on behalf of NSA, the NZ Herald would be calling for open rebellion.

  1. And the corporate spying mentioned goes hand in hand with the TPTA , with transnationals being able to sue governments this spying will be useful for them to see if NZ is breaching the trade agreement!

    • The “corporate spying” uncovers the fraud of the so called “War on Terror” .
Key sold out our freedom so he can play with the big boys and he will surely sell out our right to self determination through his signing of TPP(A) !

We need a New Zealand Prime Minister now that this ones loyalty is exposed.

      Great job (again) Campbell Live.

  2. Good job!
GCSB have done a lot more than that under Keys say so. It will all come out now.

    Opinion.

  3. Once upon a time, in previous National governments, there were members who had principles and ethics, even if I vehemently disagreed with their policies. Are there no members of the present National Party who feel uneasy about this, and other actions e.g. Key’s dumb acceptance of drone strikes? Surely there has to be some National MPs who stand up for the principles of the old National Party, or are they the ones who are getting the chop and standing down at the election?

    • No. They left.

The most telling things about this whole affair are the silence from the major media outlets and the absolutely deafening roar from the Right Wing Internet Defence Force and its leaders.

Why shout so loud, if there is nothing to it?

    • You’re right, and no there aren’t. The media talk about Labour “not rejuvenating itself” – well a lot of those politicians have stood for their electorates, stood up for democracy a long time, why should they move along?

When compared with National, who other than a few old dogs, basically the same idea-less group that got carried by Bolger and smashed by Clark, we have a procession of empty suits, servile party-creatures whol filter through, pick up their perks then rotate out to corporate posts.

  4. A question for our PM…. Who actually chose Fletcher as the GCSB chief? What was the real purpose of Clapper’s visit, that they would never have mentioned, but for the fact that some aircraft enthusiast happened to see the huge US Airforce plane at Wellington Airport, and photographed it, including photos of the passengers when they reembarked, and one of the passengers was Clapper, otherwise we would never have known he had even been in NZ. Why does a person of his standing travel all the way to NZ????

  5. Another unanswered question for our PM…. why was Gerry Mateparae shoved aside as GCSB Director, when he had only been in the job for ONE MONTH!!!???? Who decided to replace him? Why was he conveniently shoved into the Governor General role??? What was Clapper’s role in that decision??? How very CONVENIENT, that he was made Gov General, after only being in the GCSB job for one month!!!! Did someone, someone with huge influence, decide that they wanted someone else in that job??? Who made that decision??? Who pulled the strings??? How is this connected to Clappers “secret” visit to NZ, at the time that decision was being taken???

    • What I want to know is: what is Mataparae gonna do now it’s all been revealled how corrupt the PM is, considering he has the power to dissolve this cabinet! Yes it may never have been done in NZ before, but always a first time for everything.
And since he is answerable to the Queen, did she also know?
Where would Obama be left then in relation to the Spy games and for that matter where would JK run to should Mataparae dissolve parliament, after all noone wants to hang with an ousted leader of a country it’s just bad for ones image!

      • It happened in Australia when Gough Whitlam was stood down as Prime Minister by Governor-General Sir John Kerr in 11 November 1975 .
The Governor-General has the power but would he have the guts to use it ?

        • If this isn’t treason I don’t know what is.

It is sell out of our country FULL STOP.

This government needs to be dissolved right now and a new election called.

As someone says above does the governor general have the balls to do it.

David Cunliffe and Russell Norman and Winston peters need to make a call on the Governor General and start the process right now.

  6. When “Tricky Dicky” (Pres Richard Nixon) was caught out, I wonder how shocked people were, and also if he was a convincing liar?

I suppose it’s natural for people who vote a country leader in to not want to believe that the person that they entrusted is actually a crook.

You’d have to be either completely blind or stupid to not see that Ian..um..um..Fletcher and John Key weren’t totally and blatantly lying through their teeth !

OH, HAPPY HAPPY DAYS ! 🙂

      • I was and they have. I was also taking a swing at you when you dog whistle things like “all educated people think”. Very Muldoon ish and his “mainstream New Zealanders”

        • @ Insider – can I interest you in a really great deal involving US$50 million? Just because the folks offering the deal are from Nigeria doesn’t mean it’s dodgy.

After all, [all together now] – “correlation does not imply causation”!!!

    • Educated people know that correlation does not imply causation –

      Rubbish.

Educated people realise that that is exactly what it implies, they just don’t accept that it proves causation.

Any scientist will look at unexplained correlation, see what it implies and then enquire as to the cause of the correlation by conducting further tests to falsify the hypothesis.

In this case I’d wager that any further scrutiny is Dishonest John’s worst nightmare.

    • Oh, you’re so wise, Confusedious.

So if your leader is a forex trader who has no concept of sovereignty democracy, it’s just a “correlation” that he is constantly selling off democracy and sovereignty to overseas interests?

If we blindfold you, then hit you over the head repeatedly, how many times do things have to correlate before you’d accept the root cause?

  7. Hats off to Campbell and his team.

Dishonest John is also learning about revenge and slow cold meals.

  8. And “Honest” John will say again: “Hey, I am TEFLON, mate, I am TEFLON, you won’t get me, you won’t get me, my skin is made of TEFLON!”

After Campbell’s excellent investigative journalism, by his team, what more does the public need, I ask, what more, to bloody well get it?

And I will hear and see, there will again be “answers” and bizarre “explanations” coming for all of it, by one John Key, who has “caught” the bulk of the media and the majority in the public hook, line and sinker.

No-one will speak, no-one will whisper, of the network he has set up, that keep a close check on everything that goes on in the spy networks, in the police, military and top levels of the executive arms of government.

The dictatorship is working, as it is not even recognised as such. A perfect spying, surveillance, control and manipulation system, that has a grip on this country now.

  9. And recalling the home visit by John Campbell and team, to John Key and his wife, at their “humble” beach house in Omaha, I will never forget how Key waved around that barbeque tool in front of the cameras and under his wife’s and Campbell’s noses.

It could just as well have been a hand gun, that he was waving around in such a menacing manner, I could well imagine it.

He is ruthless and ready to take people out – not necessarily literally, but as the smiling assassin fired former staff.

This man is not to be trusted, and two faced, and he has a dark side to himself.

    • Yes I noticed that, and he tried to shove a sausage in his wife’s mouth as if he was sick of her getting any attention at all. It would be great when he leaves for the US if the door slammed shut behind him, don’t let him back into NZ. He’s contaminated. Also I heard Kim Dotcom’s four trusted nannies are being deported, this is all very dirty.

  10. All this happening when the U.S. are accusing five Chinese military men of economical spying…sheer hypocrisy.

  11. Nothing on Radio NZ’s Morning Report about the story. Nor the Dominion Post or the NZ Herald

    Heaps about cricket match-fixing, though.

    Priorities, eh?

National/ACT party MPs and supporters will be thrilled to bits, I guess.

  12. Umm, GCB Director or the Vice Regal position of Governed General, what to do?

You people need to take a deep breath, and reconnect with the real world. Start by taking off your tin foil hats.

  13. This episode belonged on the Comedy Channel.

The fact that it was sold as a mainstream reputable news story tells us a lot about the Mainstream New Zealand media.

    • Teflon John, pay back time for being set up for life, groomed for current role by the US govt power brokers Goldman Sachs. Dunno. Pretty well means he can do what he damn well likes and if it can’t be proven he can’t be held responsible. Money, money, money!

  14. Huge respect to the Campbell Live team. Let us know if “they” try to put the frighteners on you.

  15. Well done Campbell. It was indeed a revelation of how deep Key is involved in the Dotcom issue, despite the PM making statements to the contrary, plus his eagerness to please his US masters, ready and willing to sell Kiwis out, if it meant improving his status! A first class traitor in every respect!

I was wondering why Dotcom’s extradition hearing was moved from July to November. Now it’s clear. Key wouldn’t be ‘comfortable’ with the trial being so close to the election, knowing what was about to come out.

Campbell’s expose` of how deep Key’s involvement in playing us off to the US, must be pursued further, scrutinized much further in fact, to the extent the result will bring about John Key being held accountable for his treacherous activities against NZers!

Interesting point is this. Still nothing reported yet in mainstream media about last night’s Campbell programme!

  16. Can anyone join the dots?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/adamcurtis/posts/WHAT-THE-FLUCK

In the past, they say, the old patrician power structure maintained its power by restricting access to that information. Now the technology exists to overcome the gatekeepers and make everything public – as Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden have shown.

This transparency paradox is part of a much wider present-day confusion. Over the past few years we have been presented with scandals that seem to be evidence of powerful forces that are busy undermining both individual freedoms and the political system that is supposed to protect those freedoms.

These range from the NSA and GCHQ, to global banks, private equity, giant international energy corporations, and parts of the media-industrial complex – like News International (and probably lots of other newspapers as well).

But the scandals do not join up to make a bigger picture. And our reactions are sometimes confused and contradictory – as in the case of transparency and surveillance.

It is as if the scandals are part of a giant jigsaw puzzle – and what we are waiting for is someone to come along and click those pieces together to give a clear, big picture of what is happening.

  17. If this show took three years to research it just shows what poor researchers TV3 have. It should have been in a comedy slot. John Campbell you have really raked over the bottom feeders if you think you have struck gold. What do you think a Prime Minister is there for?

We live in a country that allows this kind of free speech without any penalty if the producers get it wrong. Maybe TV3 do not have any moderators for their program content.

    • Comprehension fail, Jennifer H.

No one said the programme took three years to research. The figure refers to the period over which the events unfolded.

Back to troll school for you.

    • What specifically shows the researchers are poor?
      What did TV3 get wrong?
What content did any moderators miss they should have picked up?

    • Looks like the trolls have called for reinforcements. Note there’s no discussion of the issues, or even the details this time, just attacking people with a different point of view

  18. Such an excellent piece of journalism from Campbell and co. They really are superb at articulating dense issues into a solid half hour narrative that exposes corruption and is easy for the layperson to understand. It’s such a sad state of affairs that the rest of the media have chosen to focus on cheating in a game where men hit a ball with a stick instead. A damn shame.

  19. Anyone concerned about US determination to dominate internal New Zealand politics should take a closer look at once and future Auckland Mayoral candidate John Palino, his background and connections.

What Wellington official approved Palino’s political assistant Luigi Wewege’s prolonged stay and employment in New Zealand, despite having none of the usual qualifications?

What is the history of the recent Herald article on Palino’s possible reappearance as a candidate in the next campaign? Who called whom? What made him and his (claimed) undecided status news at this time?

Could there be links between our apparently US-run PM (and/or his handlers) and this other foreign intrusion on the local landscape?

  20. So which part of NZ’s soveriegnty and independence will our dear leader be trading away on his NEXT trip to the USA to buckle to Obama’s requests?

my guess is that – off or on the Golf Course – the pressure will come on for NZ to capitulate to the demands of the PPTA.

    Watch this space.

    • I have this image of a dog rolling over on its back with its legs waving “blindly” in the air . . . .

Should I be amazed at what can happen on a golf course?

  21. The Prime Minister of NZ has been caught out as a lying devious conniving crook by some first class investigative journalism, and his kiss-ass Tory cheerleaders call it a comedy !

Nah, more like a tragedy as far as his chances of re-election are concerned!

Why do National supporters have such low standards when it comes to honesty and integrity ??

Oh…is that a Bee Gees track I can hear coming from John’s office ? 😉

  22. Yes . I have to say . Well done Campbell Live Team . This may sound weird but I actually enjoy having to eat my words re Campbell and Cunliffe etc . After many , many years of watching liars and swindlers lie and swindle I trust no one in the MSM or Politically so it’s a pleasure to think I might have been mistaken .

  23. The man’s a psychopath – lying comes as naturally to him as a dog rolling in a dead possum!
Smooth and smarmy but boy, do they hate it when they’re caught out!

  24. This show was pure comedy. It had to be. No-one in their right mind could produce such an inane collection of non-stories unless as satire, surely?

  25. There is simply no need for the GCSB this is a function that could be performed by the Defence force. The states enemies are not the New Zealand public this is $70 Million a year better spent on feed the kids instead of the PM having his own personal spy agency to Watergate his opponents.

  26. GG get some BB that’s big balls like Campbell Live
See AFI update, esp. the privacy video http://americans4innovation.blogspot.com We need to examine the rise and role of the new oligarchs and the decline of democracy in the U.S. keep in mind that NSA spook, James Clapper got the emails and ims on how facebook was stolen, and has the reign of the U.S. Cloud Kings come to an End Are data laws sufficient? in the U.S. Should there be an international data law? or do we just go to Europe to take over as Global Data Center Leader
