“We definitely need big picture thinking on the complex problem of child poverty and the competition’s focus on solutions is excellent.” CPAG Co-Convenor Janfrie Wakim

Child Poverty Action Group is pleased to be supporting The Big Picture Competition launched by the Anglican Church in Christchurch today.

The nationwide schools’ competition gives students a chance to learn about child poverty and be part of making a difference.

To enter the competition, classes or youth groups must create a big picture showing what kids in their neighbourhood need to be healthy and free from poverty.

CPAG spokesperson Janfrie Wakim said, “We definitely need big picture thinking on the complex problem of child poverty and the competition’s focus on solutions is excellent.  We are especially pleased that the entries will be shown to leaders as part of a call for Parliament to adopt a national strategy on child poverty.  It is very important that children and young people know their voices are heard and that they can contribute and make a difference.”
