There are very few times I agree with Whaleoil – this is one of them

This may be the one time I ever quote and agree with Cameron Slater, “I’m not sure the matrons of Wem-u-ewa are going to be convinced about this this candidate.”

This. Is. An. Abortion.

He is as free flowing as C3-PO with arthritis.

What the bloody hell is he doing with his hands? Why the weird opening ‘Hi’ sequence? I’m not sure what is funnier, his wooden lifeless expression and weird talking or the terror in his eyes.

His claim that Helen Clark was socialism is the only funny thing he says.

Was this honestly the best take?

  1. It sounds like he says Wowington? And yes he’s very funny, the hands, the eyes. Agreed, nothing for us to worry about there.

  2. “What the bloody hell is he doing with his hands?”
Visions of the Boston Strangler and Count Dracula entered my twisted, little mind.

  3. I know what’s up with him . He’s Hi . He even says so .
That was the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in ages . Thanks Bomber . Chillingly , working on the Idiocracy factor he’ll get voted in , in a landslide . And who wrote his script ? Genius .

  4. This is the guy that is supposed to hold onto the Epsom seat to keep ACT alive? hahahahahahahhahahahahahahaahaaaaaaaa

  5. A Thunderbird puppet! From Wemwera yet – in behind the roses and striding across a rugby field – I can’t imagine him coaching – can’t get past it!

  6. I always feel a bit of sympathy for people who are clearly not naturally gifted performers in this kind of format. He’s not a star performer, but, hey, better than Colin Craig.

  7. It’s obviously 🙂 the reptilian overlords, coming out of the closet and, literally, taking their human shaped gloves off. Those aren’t hands. They’re reptilian claws. Candidate like constituency – I think he’ll slay ’em.

    • Let’s just say, Roger, that this version of a humanoid-copy was not the best work from the Reptilian Overlords…

(I kept checking for a twisted little finger from Seymour, a-la “The Invaders”, from 1960s US tv.)

  8. Somehow, you have managed to turn what is very oppressive, a promotion of the misery-guts Act party, into something highly amusing.

    Thanks for the laugh Bomber!

(What the hell is that dude doing lurking behind those rose bushes?? -visually proving what a thorn he is, perhaps?)

  9. What the bloody hell is he doing with his hands?

The same Thunderbird puppet moves that Garner and Gower use.

They wave their arms around in a manner that seems totally independent to whatever narrative they are delivering. The result looks quite comic.

In respect to NZ it seems to have originated from those trained at TV3, or at least that is where I first noticed this peculiar style used so blatantly. Perhaps the director of Seymour’s clip has some connection.

  10. “I’d like you to send me to Wellington, as your MP…”

Hmmm, if we pass the hat around, can we make it further afield?

    Darwin?

    Kazakhstan?

    Pluto?
