  1. There is more to the electricity industry than just low prices, such as maintenance and renewal of infrastructure, increasing capacity to match demand, incentives to invest in new generation and incentives to investigate and build alternative (maybe greener) generation systems.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul through income redistribution funnelling money from the productive to the less productive is doomed to fail before it even starts.

    • Exactly. And let’s not forget that prices went up far faster under tricky Cunliffe’s Labour Govt. than they have under National.

  2. Winter is coming for Joffrey Key too…

Those who built the dams are going to have them back.

    • Get them back to the owners / NZ public and decorporatise them with amalgamation then have strong domestic consumer representation in their governance policed by clear regulation.

  3. OK, so here are the three things Labour have said:

    1. Labour will KEEP power prices down…see above.
    2. Labour will BRING power prices down…see DC’s facebook page, April 8th.
    3. Labour will STABILISE prices ““I haven’t said come down, I’ve said stabilise. We seriously expect to be able to limit the growth of power prices.” DC http://www.newstalkzb.co.nz/auckland/listen-on-demand/audio/tf-david-cunliffe-pt1-1stapril2014

This is a perfect example of Cunliffe speaking out of three sides of his mouth.
