Let’s be clear. The TPPA is a soft power leash originally introduced by an idealistic NZ wanting to lead on ‘free’ trade but now elevated to the level of national security threat by an America needing to reset the economic relationships with the Pacific in a manner that benefits its corporate media and culture influencers.
The US learned from Iraq and Afghanistan that Real Power like military hardware and occupation costs too much, far easier to keep Chinese interests at bay by signing ‘free’ trade deals that put their corporate monsters in charge of economic decisions that take place within NZ.
The TPPA represents the abdication of economic sovereignty, so shouldn’t we as the newly enslaved meet the masters of our new free trade universe?

Once we made it to the lobby, Ross and Lebenthal reassured me that what I’d just seen wasn’t really a group of wealthy and powerful financiers making homophobic jokes, making light of the financial crisis, and bragging about their business conquests at Main Street’s expense. No, it was just a group of friends who came together to roast each other in a benign and self-deprecating manner. Nothing to see here.
…these are the mega wealthy corporates who benefit from the TPPA and we should see them for what they are and what they believe. When Key claims that our Parliament will have a chance to debate the TPPA before it is signed, that’s nonsense, his Cabinet are all that is required to sign off on this and we have seen this Government force through controversial law minus any real concessions on National’s behalf.
We will not make the billions that Key is pretending we will make out of this deal. As I have said before…
John Key has gone off to market with our cow and he has come back with 3 magic TPPA beans, and we are going to be like, ‘John, where’s our cow mate?’, and John is going to exclaim, ‘But I gots us some magic TPPA beans’, and we are going to be like, ‘John, mate, where’s the bloody cow?’, and John’s going to go on and on and on about his freaking magic beans while we stand around in open mouthed shock that he’s handed our fucking cow over for some ‘magic TPPA’ beans.
Lefties unite and make it clear and make no apologies that it IS big, pwerful business that we are opposed to, that we recognise that they have as much, if not more, power than a government to control your life. At least a government, in a democracy, can be voted out.

That’s probably all we can expect from Key’s magic TPPA beans, an enduring noxious stench to live with.
The enormous subsidies currently being paid by the US Govt to Californian farmers (as part of a “drought-relief package”) ought to be a foretaste of things to come under the FTA if we are stupid enough to sign up to it:
Massive subsidies will likely become an annual occurrence in some part or other of the USA, (under the guise of drought, or climate change or whatever else . . . . ). Meanwhile, our farmers, producers, manufacturers, struggling to compete with these subsidies on an uneven playing field, will be “discouraged” from seeking similar subsidies from our Government whenever things get tough here (as they do, from time to time). Our big USA brother, you can be absolutely certain, will look after USA interests while unfairly sanctioning and punishing ours.
The current “Aussie-owned supermarket saga” is chicken feed compared with what our farmers and producers will be up against in the future if we sign up to the FTA on America’s terms.

Because of these two self absorbed Corporate sycophants New Zealand is on the brink of losing control of it’s very future .TPP will allow Transnational Corporations to control our ability to self govern.
We must spread the word and harass our local members and every News Media outlet to cover this issue before we lose the war.
