Snap election early 2014?

Would National tacticians decide to try a snap election? With the John Banks trial, the Governments inability to hide their economic mismanagement in the next budget and of course, Kim Dotcom’s case in March, the smart thing to do may be to go for a snap election.

The looming release of the NZ section from Snowden will have far reaching ramifications and if Dotcom’s legal team can prove Key has lied to the country over when he was briefed on Dotcom, National tacticians would start urging the snap election option before any of that gained traction.

Hitting Labour before it has enough time to co-ordinate its machine and replenish their funds from the by-election costs would be tactically stronger than waiting for Labour and Cunliffe to continue growing. The problem with going early and not waiting is that citizens get truly annoyed if they perceive such decisions as just political manipulation, so the Government would need to manufacture some type of crisis where they gain the high ground over the Summer.

Such a crisis would have to be the sort of Muldoonist necromancy of dividing NZ and unleashing the angry reactionary vote.

With the Government facing some corrosive times in 2014, how far are some on the right prepared to go to win a 3rd term?

  1. Did you have to Think that just before the Sneaky Skulduggery Season, Martyn?!!!

When all good Kiwis will be at the Beach and Bach or backyard with no more on their minds than the natural bloodsuckers (mozzies and sandflies).

    You…you…Grinch!

(Hope like anything you’re wrong on this.)

    Happy holiday season, anyhow. 🙂

  2. good i hope Key is at least sweating a bit. can’t wait for Dot Com’s case. Should be top entertainment.
I really hope we get to see Key shitting himself ( figuratively speaking)during the next 12 months. Season’s Greetings Bomber!

  3. Just idea, on the blog page where you have various unions showing,
put a picture of John key with all his lies and broken promises, brain fades etc, so it always shows no matter which page you are on.
That could be some of the best advertising that could be done.

  4. I am waiting for the asset sales referendum, that result may after all, if the Banks saga and court case has not yet, finally get Key convinced, to better “try” and early election.

He better retire with his six packs on the golf course on Hawaii. I mean it, best advice to Hone Key!

    His lot will be OUT!
