We have spent $282 million in a decade of war to prop up a corrupt narco state in Afghanistan for ‘freedom & demokracy’ but can’t afford to feed the poorest children in our poorest schools?

That cost has skyrocketed to $50m per year under Key with his SAS deployment. That we have so much money to waste on a pointless war we are never going to win just to suck up to America while we have 270 000 children in poverty is a terrible indictment on what our priorities are.

  1. One of the many, many problems with entering into something like the invasion of Afghanistan and calling it a war is that nobody knows what winning in such a context means. From a strategic military point of view, it is senseless. From a political point of view, it’s even worse.

  2. A total disgrace…
If $100m would solve the hungry kids issue imagine what $282m would do.
Plus just like the politicians hide unemployment figures I bet it cost more than that too. Ahhhhg what am I saying they would have spent it on some other selfish shit anyway.

I think we should send all the military extremists (by that I mean all of them! any unreasonable prick who will kill others for their idea/country/religion/belief/bank/patriotism etc) to Mars with all the weapons and let them all fight it out, the winner can celebrate that god must be on their side, then the lone winner is fucked anyway because they cant get home afterwards and will die in the red dust (bummer)- fuck it, televise it too, we could use a laugh. It might be initially expensive but it will soon pay for itself because then we can laugh, sing, dance, go fishing, (insert your favorite thing here), make love, drink fermented beverages, grow food and celebrate our families while we use our 500,000,000 trillions we saved on corrupt militarism for something more constructive.

      • Trick them, tell them there is more gold there than here, diamonds as big as cats all over the surface just waiting for the new king of the universe to scoop them up they will probably go themselves without prompting. Or make the spaceship interior look like a giant awards ceremony for the Military (they love badges) in they go… lock the doors and press the lift off button. (fantasies are free anyway)

      • Using force on “any unreasonable prick who will kill others for their idea/country/religion/belief/bank/patriotism etc” may be the only option before they destroy our lives and planet.
Even avid pacifists may use force against a rabid dog that was attacking them.

For this, Jim Anderton and Matt Robson collapsed their party.

    What were they thinking?
