Me at the funeral of Public Broadcasting

They killed off Close Up and tortured us with Seven Sharp, knifed Nightline for Paul Henry while choking off TVNZ7, now the final garroting of public broadcasting is finally here, Citizen A and the entire Face TV local content schedule will end at the end of this month.

As David Beatson chronicles in his excellent exclusive blog on TDB The Ministry of Culture & Heritage has purposely not implemented their own policy to ensure free to air signals are available for not for profit television and green lighted Kordia (another Government Department) to flog off the remaining free to air frequencies for business interests.

While Face TV will continue on the Sky platform, 140 hours of NZ Public Broadcasting including Citizen A will end this month.

It has been an honour to host the show and I would like to thank everyone who has participated on Citizen A over the last 2 years and to the loyal viewers who have been so passionate.

It is in the interests of the powerful to limit debate on Television, it has been a privilege to fight that interest.

The final Citizen A will screen 28th November.

  1. Martyn I’ve followed your views and programs for about the last 4-5 years on different TV channels.
It seems as if ‘the powers that be’, really don’t want you highlighting what’s really going on, as you may end up waking up the sheeple of NZ with your ‘non conformist’ views.

Good on you Bomber, best of luck ‘popping up’ somewhere else on free TV. I’ll follow you on TDB.
Hopefully you’ll continue showing Citizen A here, so we can ‘watch you’ (we know the GCSB will definitely be doing so) without having to buy into their service and thus support SkyTV.

    Cheers
    Kevin

  2. you are the Uncle Scrim of 21st Century NZ, Bomber. Take a bow! they’re jamming you wherever you go. I will write to local Labour and NZ First reps to today to highlight this anomaly. There has to be a way o to reverse this,or there will be no frequencies left.

  3. National Radio next

We know where the Greens stand on supporting public broadcasting but Labour still feels a bit vague in their commitment, to me

  4. Bomber sorry to see the show ending, have you ever thought about making it a Audio podcast and releasing it yourself.

Probably much cheaper to produce and if you self publish you don’t need to worry about someone shutting you down.

Just an idea to have a think about, if you have any questions drop me an email.

    See ya…Gary

  6. At what point does a country declare it’s safety and the safety of it’s citizens, visitors, flora & fauna to be in jeopardy for a lack of public broadcasting of current events, weather, earthquake and tsunami warnings and so on, because not all people can receive either a digital signal or a balanced argument regarding it’s affairs? The memory of Gough Whitlam being stood down on a point of national security is still fresh in the minds of both Australians and New Zealanders, as his Senate wouldn’t pass the bills of supply, as I understand it. One has to ask what vested interests are so keen to monopolise the rationing of information and why, suddenly, the aphorism of “Information wants to be free” is being discarded like last year’s disposable nappy….eeuw, who said that??
Information, like privacy, is getting priced off the market.

  7. As with the others, I’m saddened to see Citizen A scrapped. I hope there is a way to re-ignite it somehow. Thank you for your hard work in educating others!

  8. BTW – I think you should keep on posting it on TDB. Who cares about production values. It’s the content that counts. Unpaid of course 🙁 unless you can find. Financial backer.

  9. Oh God . Where there’s flies for honey , there are Stevens for the Thinkers .

Back to Whale Oil Steve . You won’t be challenged there . They have a deep pool of ignorance over there that you can wallow in to your little hearts content .

The reason for the attacks on the communications systems we’ve paid to have installed to keep us informed and focused are for the reasons I’ve just mentioned . ‘ They ‘ and I’ll get to ‘ they ‘ in a second will use the digital media to misinform us and blur any focus .

If one were to colonize a country , the first thing to do is to spread propaganda and since this is a bloodless coup , not firing actual guns at those who are about to have their country taken from them is not the right tactic for this instance . It’s fine to drone attack Afghanis or Iraqis for their oil but not in New Zealand . That would be going just that little bit too far .

The digital media will be used to brainwash New Zealanders to a point that will render us incapable of defending our front lawns much less our country .

‘ They ‘ , the 740 Park Avenue Scum of The Earth and the worms that hang from their bowels , the likes of our very own jonky , are here to have away with what is ours . Not theirs . And you wouldn’t believe how many people ask in hollow brained innocence … You know that look ? With that mocking Haw , haw , haw look in their eyes ?

” Haw , whaday mean ? They want to come here and take over tha country ? Haw , haw , haw . ”

I drove through Eastern Southland on Wednesday on my way to Queenstown . To get there , I drove down the Catlins Coast from Kaitangata to the Waikawa Inlet and do you know what I saw ? No ? I’ll tell you what I saw .

    I saw heaven .
I smelled the hawthorn hedges and I saw clouds over green fields which were surrounded by native forest , as beautiful as any park lands . I saw a deep blue ocean , as clear and clean as you could only pray for in Europe . I drove along country roads and I saw a couple of cars and when I stopped to water my dog in a shallow stream the air was filled with sweetness from warm green grasses .

The drive from Kaitangata down to Waikawa through the Southern Catlins Rain Forests and out and above Central Southland then on through to Queenstown via Invercargill is the most beautiful and varied road trip you can do in New Zealand . No contest . And it’s free . Apart from fuel . It’s free . You can drink the river water and you won’t get cholora ( Yes , you might get other things . Nasty things that may give you spectacular shits but hey ! You probably needed a good clean out . Natures colonic . ) . Once in QT , you can see what the fuss is about . Quite big snow capped hills to the West feeding fresh water to vast and deep Lake Wakatipu . When you combine Wakitipu with Lakes Wanaka and Hawea and they in turn feed the Clutha River , the largest River by volume in New Zealand you start to get an idea , more a dread of what’s to come .
Further south at Te Anau and Manapori there’s more clear , fresh water . Go further south still to Lake Horoko one of the fifteen deepest fresh water lakes in the world . Sitting there , surrounded by forest , miles ( or kilometers ) away from the teeming ,polluting , billions who will need water and space before very long as we consume , like the fat , careless , morons digital media is turning us into , to fuel their growing desperation for a better life and now that they have the money … and who can blame them ? We’ve become our own demons . It’s said that those demons that torment us are those who we create ourselves .
The Uber Riche are on their way . New Zealand will be the last place left standing . They created the Demon and they’re running out of places to hide from it . Highjacking our media is the first lappings of a vast tsunami to come I’m afraid . ( I don’t mean South East Asians , Chinese or any of the other peoples who are popular to fear and loath by a select few sad haters who were abused by their fathers . ) I mean the Rich . The soulless Filthy Rich are on their way . There’s going to be standing room only as the look out at their creation .

    • finally! someone gets to the point. yes the filthty rich of the world – USA- Britain (I was deeply concerned about DonKeys stay with the windsors ) and finally Israel. I feel these mega rich will be the ones to end up owning our (soon to be) extremely valuable resources eg. clean water, unpolluted food and power resources. I noted with interest Prince Williams comments about NZ when DonKey was at Balmoral. He said “he liked NZ because we follow the rule of law. I was curious about the timing and signifigance of that comment, and alarmed when I read that there might be a royal visit next year. Really!!! In an election year? That would be unprecedented. From my memory the royals make a point of staying out of our politics so? Now there is a sizeable contingent of American military here in “Mainlandia”. Really? Is it paranoid of me to wonder what the hell? To add to that DonKeys absolute arrogance in going ahead with whatever his masters bid him. After all he’s like Gollum around money. Now add the fact that we are the best and closest access to Antartica where a huge amount of the worlds fresh water is and we are conveniently situated away from the rest of the world geographically. Well we start looking like a damn good option to whisk the president the royal heirs away for safe haven. I could keep going but I’m getting cramp in my thumb.

  10. The filthy rich used to hoard gold, kauri shells, pigs or diamonds but a limited supply so paper promises, then plastic cards allotted fictitious numbers became the measure of ones wealth along with ones physical possessions, and what we may construct or grow. Now Oil has become the new gold but unfortunately cannot be hoarded in a bank and has to be used to create wealth no matter how, in cars, vans, tanks aeroplanes, toy factories you name it.
We have to stop using oil if we wish to save life on earth, if thats worth doing.
