5AA Australia: New Zealand Police are under pressure to explain why they did not prosecute a group of male youths for sex crimes against a 13 year old girl back in 2011.

The males formed a gang called Roastbusters and have bragged online, including on Facebook, about how they have lured underage girls, got them drunk, and then had sex with them.

It is believed there are a series of offenses of this nature stretching back to 2011 and involving numerous victims.

One of the males is the son of a Police officer, and another the son of a well known US-based actor.

He was picked up by a man driving a stolen car, and when Police spotted the stolen vehicle, the driver sped off at high speed (around 150 km/hour) with the terrified tourist frozen in the passenger seat.

The driver evaded road spikes, and two Police chases, sped through road works at around 100 km/hour, and finally ditched the car and took off on foot.

Once Police arrived the backpacker emerged from the car rather shaken and pointed out to Police the direction the driver ran in.

A 28-year-old man from Auckland has been charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, possession of tools for conversion, driving while forbidden, dangerous driving and reckless driving.
