Universities are the social conscience of society. To call on students for higher learning to a place of study where the workers are paid less than they are able to live on is an insult to the students as much as it is to the workers.

I will MC a protest meeting with David Cunliffe, Jane Kelsey, Hannah Williams, Vernon Tava, Campbell Jones, Chris Shore, Joe McCrory and John Minto.

1pm at the Quad, Wednesday Auckland University.

    • I don’t think the leader of Labour has much to offer students. Cunliffe has hardly talked about them and has made no indication that he will stop student fees.
Cunliffe talks about ending neoliberalism, but you can’t say he will end neoliberalism if he continues with student fees. Student fees are neoliberalism. Student fees are about work and education being the responsibility of the individual.
…or is Cunliffe just going to finish neoliberalism for the older generations?

  1. What is this protest actually about? Low student living loans/allowances/corporatisation of our tertiary education?
“To call on students for higher learning to a place of study where the workers are paid less than they are able to live on is an insult to the students as much as it is to the workers” is a convoluted sentence that makes little sense.
