Headline: Axe the ACC tax now, not in election year

The Government talked up a crisis in ACC so it could push levies to artificially high levels as a backdoor route to get to surplus, ripping off Kiwis in the process, Labour’s ACC spokesperson Iain Lees-Galloway says.

“The $4.9 billion surplus has come out of the pay packets of hardworking Kiwis.

“The Government has been gouging New Zealanders for years. It ignored advice from both MoBIE and ACC to significantly cut levies. That would have given someone on the average wage an extra $125.

“Now it is proposing to ‘give back’ some of what it’s taken in election year. That’s a bribe, no two ways about it.

“Judith Collins should axe the ACC tax now.“
