I was lucky enough to MC the launch of MANAs Mangere Motorway protest which coincided with their Ward Councillor Candidates and their Local Board Candidates to a packed house this afternoon in the very same Town Hall that launched David Lange as a candidate.

MANA Ward Councillor Candidates
Joe Trinder – Manukau
Roger Fowler – Manukau
James Papali’i – Manurewa-Papakura
Barry Tumai – Manurewa-Papakura
Douglas Robertson – Waitakere

MANA Local Board Candidates
Ian Heihei – Otara
Sian Robertson – Eden-Albert
Kayla Filimoehala – Mangere-Otahuhu
Hagen Robertson – Whau

As John Minto’s devastating blog on this issue highlighted last week, the Council have decided Option 4 for the AMETRI roadway which will see a dirty filthy motorway demolishing hundreds of homes right through the middle of Mangere. Adding insult to injury, they will go under Kings College, but demolish the homes of the poor.

It’s the same tired old tactics we have seen under this Government, pretend to consult the poor and then screw them anyway.

What was most sad was the absolute absence of any mainstream media to cover this. If this Motorway was cutting through Ponsonby it would have been carried live, because it’s destroying the homes of the poor, they are no where to be seen.

Bomber – what we must do is “bomb” the mainstream media, that is by commenting in their opinion columns and putting in links to this and other stories!

It does work to a degree, and I have had some success in putting in links to revealing reports and so forth, yes, even on Kiwiblog the odd time, believe it or not.

If done well and in a balance manner, we can use the MSM to distract from their biased reporting, or even ignoring us, by hitting their opinion columns and then channel attention to the true reports, like this one.

My encouragement is to all concerned, affected and motivated, to do the same. It may be a bit of an effort, but if hundreds do it, they cannot ignore us.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on this.

Clearly, it is big money and big agendas that push ahead in Auckland, and the ordinary residents are treated with total contempt, while the better off get preferential treatment. Nothing new really, is it?

I will vote for Minto this coming election, as I am disillusioned by one corporate lackey called “Len”. I am actually very pleasantly surprised by Minto and his policy suggestions, and even some conservatives have complimented on this in the NZ Herald, which is really astonishing. Common sense must prevail, and all can be affordable, and serving the interests of all, except the 1 per cent top freeloaders.

  2. . . . the Council have decided Option 4 for the AMETRI roadway

No. The Council has NOT decided to go ahead with Option 4. C’mon Bomber, check your facts. Even John Minto’s “devasting” blog doesn’t say the Council has decided. He does claim that it is the Council’s preferred option, in which case, DOX or GTFO.

    • Blip check your facts how did Council ever permit this to even exist as an option. Where was your precious council when poor peoples homes were being destroyed in Glenn Innes.
