Rachael-GoldsmithRachael Goldsmith (B.App.Med.Arts – Journalism, Nat.Dip – Human Resources, Nat.Cert – Social Services) is a writer &  social justice activist from Invercargill, Southland.

She has been a candidate for the Greens in ’11 and ’14 in Clutha Southland, and is working her way up the party list. She is also on their Policy Committee – writing social justice policy and facilitating policy development within the party membership. She is also the Clutha Southland spokesperson and worked on the Keep Our Assets campaign.

Rachael identifies as a queer cis-female feminist. She is a mum, step-mum  and has raised hundreds of gorgeous foster kittens for SPCA Southland since 2010, where she is also a board member. She works at the Southern Institute of Technology, supporting students with learning disabilities.

Between all of this she can be found feet up on the couch on Facebook either knitting, doing nail art and/or avidly researching anything interesting she comes across.

Rachael has a rare genetic disorder – Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and disability issues are very important to her both personally and politically. She is driven by a fierce desire to create a fair, equal and safe society for everyone.

Rachael’s political passions include women’s rights, mental health, social development, gender & sexuality, reproductive health, disability, housing and animal welfare.
