“We have had constructive working relationships with previous Labour leader David Shearer and look forward to developing a good relationship with David Cunliffe too.”
Green Party Co-leaders Metiria Turei and Russel Norman congratulated David Cunliffe on his election as Labour Party leader.
“Congratulations to David Cunliffe and to the Labour Party for running this democratic process,” Mrs Turei said.
“We have had constructive working relationships with previous Labour leader David Shearer and look forward to developing a good relationship with David Cunliffe too.”
Mrs Turei noted that the Green and Labour Parties share common ground on several policy areas including electricity reform, opposition to asset sales and National’s SkyCity deal, support for a capital gains tax and commitment to a living wage.
“We look forward to continuing to working alongside Labour on these areas to make New Zealand a smart, greener, more compassionate place to live,” Mrs Turei said.
