The Preservation of Privacy Act, 1972 – oh how little has changed

You know when the Government dump 135 pages late on a Friday they are trying to hide something and goodness wasn’t that the case with yesterdays Henry Inquiry?

Reporter’s emails sent to inquiry but never opened
Emails between Fairfax journalist Andrea Vance and United Future leader Peter Dunne were sent to the Henry Inquiry, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet has revealed.

The latest twist in the saga comes after it was revealed this week that Vance’s phone records were sent to the inquiry, and an earlier disclosure that her swipe-card records recording her movements around the parliamentary precinct were also provided.

You know when a National Party Cheerleader like John Armstrong is posting columns with titles like this, “Govt betrayal on a monumental scale“, John Key has gone way too far.

The Henry Inquiry has lied at every single turn to hide their over-reach, why should we believe anything they have to say now?

Is his name even Henry?

Does anyone believe that they didn’t copy anything sent to them? Had the GCSB already seen these emails? When Key’s Chief of Staff demanded Parliamentary Services comply with sending all information did PS feel intimidated into complying?

If this is the contempt the authorities treat the privacy of Journalists, how will any of us mere citizens fare against the GCSB being legally able to spy upon us?

This entire fiasco alongside the revelations that the NZDF used the American intelligence services to spy on journalist Jon Stephenson alongside the mass surveillance revelations Edward Snowden has released all demand that this GCSB legislation stops in its tracks now until we have had time to reconsider its wide reaching ramifications.

The Henry Inquiry – not so much Game of Thrones, more Blame of Drones.

  1. Blame of Drones, that’s very good Bomber, (this post will now be flagged eh?) as for me well I’m just spending a quiet Sat morning on the laptop and partaking in a smoking of the cones:)

It’s actually as funny as a fart Bomber – even when you go back to the construction of the ‘Kitteridge Report’ and the schematics and numbering ‘system’ used to supposedly ensure tracking.

I really really don’t want these fucking incompetents running the place – they can’t even see the bleeding obvious when it jumps up and bites them in the anus even when they’re in receipt of more than adequate salary (which is supposed to be an indicator of their competence).

My only hope is that they keep the bullshit up – it’s bloody entertaining to watch them all self-destruct.

Christ – even the US Congress is now questioning ‘the reach’ of the NSA. That says a lot.
