Aotea Square Ice Rink + Competition

So on Thursday night I went Ice Skating at the pop-up Ice Rink in Aotea Square and had the most fun I’ve had in ages. Paradice Ice Skating have set the rink up and it’s open from now until the 11th August (Midday-10pm and from 10am on weekends and school holidays). The rink is covered so you can go in all weathers but feels outdoorsy so you can pretend you’re in Central Park. ALSO there are classes; there’s a school holiday programme and a 7 week course starting this weekend. Or if you feel like a bit of extra attention, you can hire a coach for a one-on-one lesson.

Also, if you’re feeling like embracing winter and wanting to continue with the snow theme, you should check out Slava’s Snow Show, which looks absolutely enchanting.

The Daily Blog has 2 double passes to the Ice Rink to give away, all you have to do is comment below and tell us what your favourite thing to do in Auckland in winter is and you’ll be in the draw. You can enter up until 7pm Monday night when we’ll announce the winners. We’ll also contact you via email.

  1. My favourite thing to do in Auckland in winter is spend a few hours at the Auckland art gallery, then have a hot bowl of ramen for dinner at one of many hole-in-the-wall ramen bars in the CBD. Then after dinner we’d rug up and go ice skating!

  2. As a victim of Bridgecorp and C+M life’s little pleasures are no longer an option in the day to day financial struggle. Reading the above article reminded me of my troublefree teens at Paradice GI and then as an adult astounding my sons at Paradice Avondale when they realised and were amazed and open mouth stunned that mum could indeed skate – and better than them. I certainly gained some kudos and respect that day! The most fun thing to do in Auckland right now would be putting on a shiny pair of blades, along with my son, and skate around the wonderful ice doing a backward spin back to those happier times…even for just an hour or so. Dreams are free and if I won these tickets that would certainly make this dream come true…for free! Blades and fingers crossed!!!!!

  3. My favourite thing to do in Auckland in winter would have to be the Museum. There’s always something new to see or something you missed on your previous visit. They do an excellent job of bringing the past to life. =D

  4. Went on Saturday night, it’s so pretty with all the fairy lights. After an hour or so I managed to start skating for proper and I only have one sore elbow for my trials.

  5. Hi All, our winners (chosen at random) are Nicholas and Kelasha! Congratulations! Thanks all for entering!
