Headline: National Government unstable, unethical
“John Key’s National Government’s numbers in Parliament depend on disgraced MPs.”
The National Government is unstable and unethical and relies on the vote of disgraced ex-minister Peter Dunne and disgraced ACT leader John Banks who is currently before the courts, the Green Party said today.
“Today’s announcement shows John Key is presiding over an unstable and unethical government,” Green Party Co-leader Dr Russel Norman said.
“John Key’s National Government’s numbers in Parliament depend on disgraced MPs.
“Legislation such as to enable the SkyCity deal now depend on the vote of disgraced ex-minister Peter Dunne and John Banks who is facing court charges.
“Like the last days of the Shipley Government, John Key is having to cobble together a coalition of the disgraced.
“Mr Dunne presented himself as a man of integrity. John Banks was shown to lie about donations and is facing charges in court.
“The police are likely to investigate this case but in the meantime John Key has serious questions to answer about whether Mr Dunne’s actions compromised New Zealand security or defence.
“When I questioned Bill English about this issue in Parliament on April 9 he wasn’t able to give an assurance that the security-sensitive appendix to the Kitteridge report was not released.
“Mr English told me in Parliament that Mr Dunne was given the report because of his coalition role not as a Minister. The coalition arrangement is unchanged, all that’s changed is Mr Dunne’s job title,” Dr Norman said.
