On Wednesday our very own Marama Davidson is joining some other stellar people for a panel discussion at The Women’s Centre in Auckland. ‘Feminisms through different lenses’ will be moderated by Dr Judy McGregor and will tackle what it means to be feminist and how we relate to feminist concepts in our day-to-day lives. Mmmmm excellent spot of midweek feminism.

For some slightly lighter entertainment, The Illusionists are coming to Auckland! The biggest selling magic show on earth brings together 7 of the worlds greatest magicians. Take the kids, pretend you’re in vegas. No wait, being in vegas with the kids sounds like no fun at all. Pick one or the other. Either way, it’ll be a fun night!

Also beginning in Auckland this week is Like this, Like us. Salted Singlet’s last show was An Unfortunate Willingness To Agree, which I LOVED. This is seriously smart contemporary dance, Oliver Connew is very clever, it will be beautiful and thought provoking.

It’s Africa Day in Wellington on Saturday at the Town Hall. Go eat some nshima and groove to some awesome drumming. I’m actually a bit annoyed that Wellington gets this. It’s from 11.30am to 11.00pm and there’ll be lots of cool stalls and activities to get amongst.

Also on Saturday is a Nationwide day of action against Monsanto and all that they stand for. The link for the Auckland event has links to events all around the country. Actually it’s quite fitting that it’s happening on Africa Day given all they’ve done there…

As always, if you know of anything else happening this week, please leave a comment below. If there’s something coming up in the next couple of weeks, drop us a line on our calendar page.
