10 000 strong public strike is Luxon’s fault

Ten thousand public servants to strike next week over pay, union says
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon says public servants thinking about striking next week “should be at work” instead, and that negotiations should continue without industrial action.
Around 10,000 workers are set to strike from 1pm on Wednesday, September 9, as bargaining over their respective collective agreements drags on, the Public Service Association (PSA) union said.
The government departments impacted by the planned strikes include the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry for Ethnic Communities (MEC), the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE), and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).
The DIA, NEMA, and MEC strikes are due to finish at 6pm, the MBIE strike at 5.30pm, and the MSD strike at 3pm.
Stuff
Public servants wouldn’t;t be striking if the Government Luxon leads wasn’t hollowing out their budgets!
The irony of him criticising their action while continuing to denigrate the public service is hilarious.
You don’t want a strike? Resource the public service better.
I just came out of 8 days inside our public health system, and those staff are doing it tough BECAUSE of Government policy!
Luxon has set the environment where public servants are striking, criticising them for his Governments actions is like arresting the homeless that his policies have created.
It’s everyone else’s fault expect Luxon’s.

A bit naïve here aren’t we? It’s an article of faith with the right that there are too many bureaucrats. Doesn’t matter how many we have, there are still too many apparently. No evidence ever presented other than the bureaucracy headcount increased under Labour. No straining their brains about why this might have happened of course.
Pity Luxon doesn’t do the work he’s supposed to do either.
He should be governing for all of us not starving 90% for the benefit of the sorted elites.
Is there anyone he hasn’t offended, been rude to, been disgustingly unsympathetic to, shown his hypocrisy to, spoken disparagingly about, called childish names, or tried to cover up his incompetence and disingenuousness to.
He had no intention of being a proper prime minster so we can’t expect much from him.
Is he really employable?
They should be working says Luxon.
Luxon should be leading this country instead of being chairman of a council of public asset thieves and neo-liberal economic saboteurs, I say.
Again how naive and stupid is our current PM? Saying they “should be at work” is simple minded. Does he ever think things out and respond like a PM instead of a petulant child? He is such an embarrassment. Of course a strike now, so close to the election, is not good for the Right but so very much deserved. They have only just decided to TRY to honour some of their promises, BUT IT’S TOO LATE! The Public Service Assn has had enough of this Govt. hollowing out their budgets and making their workers redundant. I too have just come out after several days in Akld Hospital and have nothing but awe for the medical staff who are under-resourced, at running speed, but despite all of this, work so very efficiently, with a smile on their faces and are a joy to watch. We need to look after those who are caring for us not those with their hands continually out for more!
I would argue that a strike now just before the election would be good for National. Gives them a stick to beat Labour with doesn’t it? Gives them an excuse to panic their supporters into getting out and voting.
