I wish Peter Dunne could have been so enlightened on cannabis when he made Helen Kelly a criminal in her final months of life…
Peter Dunne says ‘Class C’ drugs like cannabis should be made legal and regulated
For some time now, Dunne’s been talking up the merits of Portugal’s drug laws, where every drug is decriminalised – albeit with a caveat: If you’re caught with less than 10 days of any drug – cannabis, heroin, methamphetamine, or anything in between – you won’t be prosecuted. Instead, you’ll be fined or sent to treatment.
Rather than creating a free-for-all, Portugal saw its people’s drug use slump: in the 1990s, one in every 100 people in Portugal was addicted to heroin; since then, overall drug use has dropped 75 per cent.
Dunne wants to see that replicated in New Zealand.
“I think the full Portuguese solution, personally, might be the way for us to go long term. That might be where we head,” he says.
…Peter Dunne has desperately attempted to claim that this has been United’s position for 4 years and that the idiot clowns at Stuff.co.nz thought they had an exclusive when none existed, and that’s true, the Fairfax journalist Lauren McQuillian should be feeling pretty embarrassed.
But while Dunne’s position has been the same for 4 years and while Fairfax can’t do anything right, the fact still remains that Dunne’s more vocal attitude now is still him playing politics with an issue that he has done sweet fuck all for over 9 years.
Dunne’s being more vocal because he faces a real challenge from Greg O’Connor who has also said he believes that Cannabis reform is necessary.
The simple truth is Dunne will say anything to try and stay in Parliament now, he refused to sign off on Helen Kelly’s application for cannabis and he made her a criminal in the final months of her life.
For all the talk he is a man of zero action who hasn’t done a damned thing to unwind the madness of our cannabis legislation.
He is irrelevant to the debate and voters should make him irrelevant in his electorate by voting him out. For those like the editor of the Dim Post, Danyl Mclauchlan who cry they can’t support a cop and that somehow Peter Dunne is a civil liberties hero in comparison, I remind them how Dunne sold the entire country down the river with the mass surveillance laws despite the hypocritical prick having his own emails to Andrea Vance spied upon.
Dunne is no civil rights champion, he sold his vote to National to give them the support they needed to pass mass surveillance law that has empowered and enabled a deep state within NZ – the prick is a “willing buyer, willing seller” traitor.
All these politicians who suddenly care about cannabis reform do so because the polls show that the majority of NZers by a huge margin want reform.
We want reform NOW – not in 3 years. We are arresting 7000 NZers a year for cannabis, Peter Dunne is honestly saying to your face that we need to arrest 21 000 more NZers before we can reform our system.
That’s not a fucking solution people.
lets hope he doesn’t get dementia…actually…

… O’Connor came out in favour of pharmaceutical medicinal marijuana, labelling it a “no-brainer”.
Doctors could already prescribe morphine-based products and could therefore be trusted with cannabis-based products, he said…
well dabs and respect bruh.
4 Years ago I was faced with this Situation where this guy wanted help sourcing some medicinal cabbage for his girl. I new it was a bad idea. Dunne would never have signed off on it.
Last time I saw either one was on the front page of the Herald, treatment went as well as possible from what I remember.
4 fucken years
20 years I have been trying to get access to medical cannabis, 20 years of this idiot saying no, even way back then he was in control of this situation.
I remember once writing to him to be told we weren’t allowed raw leaf for medical use (there were no pharma versions back then) to be told no because of no dosage control and it would be smoked, then he allowed that synthetic crap that has no dosage control and he knew it was being smoked.
No, the only thing this guy can do is say sorry and hand in his resignation
.
Sauce #REEEEEEEE
Shame on this Man for not giving a dying angel of mercy her last wish, he should go to hell for this lack of compassion toward a truly wonderful human in her dying last days in pain.
Would you like gravy or curry sauce with those chups?
We should have collectively prosecuted Peter Dunne for failing Helen Kelly. His politics were more important to him than his regard for her medical health. I herewith apologise to her family and to her memory for not fighting more. She will always be my 2016/17 New Zealander of the Year and I will never forget her legacy to us all.
+100…Helen Kelly who led the charge for many New Zealanders in pain, particularly the elderly
Peter Dunne indeed lacks morality
peter dunne is a shocking example of how fucking useless we are at kicking up a proper fuss.
Better not make a fuss though or he might ban say morphine for terminally ill people because? Addictive.
When my mum was dying of cancer I learned that heroin is a much better drug for the terminally fucked. I was told by her Dr that he couldn’t give mum heroin because it was addictive. I knew that, of course, but I wanted to see the look of exasperation on his face. I was not disappointed.
dunne logic for all. yay.
Reform or not I will always smoke a joint when I want to
Its election year, Dunne as woken up and is looking for publicity. He will be able to go back to sleep come September and his one man band party will be no more.
