Folks it’s going into Autumn and it’s that season for the TDB contribution drive. Unlike some blogs who constantly ask for contributions to pay for the legal fees of the editors defamation cases, we at TDB use it to expand the content we create.

TDB is now the second largest blog in NZ and the largest progressive blog...

…we have the widest range of progressive bloggers in NZ and have launched our own week nightly live streamed 7pm current affairs show in association with Waatea News.

We are walking the walk on public broadcasting rather than merely talking the talk.

Which brings me to Scoop. Late last year Scoop ran another one of their campaigns to take back the news and managed to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the relaunch of Scoop. Since then the editor has left to work in Ireland, Scoop has been unable to pay any of the other members of their advertising cartel and Scoop’s Pacific Media Centre has pulled back and formed a new relationship with Evening Report.

Which frustrates the hell out of us here at TDB. We out rate Scoop’s columnists on domestic traffic, we provide a far larger range of progressive views, we post progressive press releases and we do a weeknightly live streamed current affairs show yet still people keep pumping money into Scoop to ‘take back the news’ when nothing of the sort ever seems to happen.

TDB Recommends NewzEngine.com

There are those who talk a big game when it comes to creating a new media response to the bias of the mainstream media and then there are those actually walking the walk of building that alternative.

  1. You have an activist base audience Martyn, the ones who we refer to on the right as ‘the great unwashed’ who only have their hand out and never in their pockets! Good luck 🙂

  2. Not struck off but requested to be taken off, (remember the owner of the site that gives numbers posted on here, or did you miss that as the truth is always inconvinient to the left) WO the #1 blog and also an art blog (#2 blog) have requested not to be on the list, which makes TDB at #2 not so good when you know it’s actually #4 (I’d still suggest that TS is actually more popular than TDB, but it will be swings and roundabouts I guess, TDB puts up many posts/threads but only a handful, if any, comment on most new threads, some get ‘great’ responses and get into the teens in numbers 🙂
