John Key’s military bodyguard in Afghanistan is the NZer being held in an Australian prison – when will Key show him the protection he showed Key?

Ko Haapu is the decorated soldier who has been locked up in an Australian prison. He was Key’s bodyguard when Key was in Afghanistan. Haapu has committed no crime, he has a connection to a bikie gang and that is the low threshold Australia are using to  throw people out of their country using anti-terror powers.

Adding to this miscarriage of justice, it turns out that there are no NZ murderers or rapists on Christmas Island so not only was Key grossly offensive, he was wrong!

If NZ is honestly behind Key on this, it says something very damaged about us as a country.

  1. I have seen a poll that showed that National’s popularity rating went up after The Right Honorable Mr Key yelled at Andrew Little to “get some guts!”

Expect to see Mr Key’s popularity rise after this latest performance against the opposition’s support of detainee/volunteers.

    • Key’s ‘popularity’ went up too after the shocking exposure of the ‘Dirty Politics’ as well as after the revelation of his despicable ‘Pony Tail Pulling’ behaviour. That does not mean that what Key has done is right. Does it?

      • Yep. Also says more about the disturbed psyche of some voters, particularly after the election result last year, if it’s to be believed that is and I have my doubts about that particular election outcome!

Given that, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if FJK’s popularity goes through the roof at the next poll!

His present squalid behaviour will be very appealing to his redneck supporters!

        • what an arrogant mongrel Key is – and of course his supporters are exactly the same – well we have ourselves to blame if his mongrel govt. gets in again. He forgets when its convenient

    • @ David SEE-MORE
I think you’re an all bought and paid for troll. How does that make you feel at 4.00 am. Knowing you’re selling out your country and its people for a few dollars ? Jesus man . Get another type of work . Actually, your comment’s so loopy I have to wonder exactely where the fuck you’re at ?

      • Agree CB – SEE-MORE has been off this blog for a while. Probably getting his lips surgically attached to his hero’s gluteus maximus, using his paid troll money to fund the operation.

  2. National are playing the fear card, rapists and murderers, there appears to be an element of paranoia in Parliament at present Hone Crosby Key is getting himself a bit worked up and his little buddy Carter from ChCh is covering his mates backside.

  3. Translation for John Key’s refusal to apologise:-

“I have done NOTHING to look after our people who are being held ILLEGALLY in Aussie detention centres because I have been too busy living it up at the taxpayers’ expense at the Rugby World Cup, and I am now deflecting attention by accusing all of these Kiwis as being rapists and child molesters, and a danger to NZ society, because that is what I have been told to say by Crosby Textor, to get myself out of the deep shit that I have put myself in with my disgusting comments.

I am a corporate paid pig with my nose firmly entrenched in the trough, and I don’t give a toss about any Kiwis apart from us filthy rich ones.”

  4. See-More – you are a weasel. The PM’s display was disgraceful. Yelling at opposition members, denigrating women and democracy. Appalling.

The only poll he should win, is “The most despicable MP ever is? And the nominees are:

    A) Sir Roger Douglas
    B) Sir Bob Jones
    C) Sir Rob Muldoon
    D) John Key-oil

So See-More, your buddy should win a knighthood for his despicable performance in the debating chamber.

And btw. This poll he will win.

Originally Britain sent all its “criminals” to Australia.

Now Aussie is sending anyone with over a year in jail, back to their country of origin.

It’s going to be pretty crowded on Christmas Island soon, with Kiwi volunteers and descendants of British Exported crims from the 1860’s. Reminds me of when I went to Aussie on holiday, they asked me if I had a criminal record.

“I didn’t know I still needed one to get into Australia!”

  6. This news should be the death nail in Key’s political coffin, but I am sure Farrar and Crosby Textor are working overtime tonight, to find some fault with the “former” hero. He will be rubbished tomorrow, I expect, and be not worth any medals now going by the way things go. At least under Kim John Key they do not go as far like in North Korea, under Kim Yong Un, where the consequences may be fatal.

Here you just get disgraced, or silenced by other means, that are within the law, in their eyes.

  7. Maori and Island New Zealanders detained in Australia on the slightest pretext.

Australia would deport Aborigines if they could get away with it.
And John Key would be OK with that.

  8. John Key is a serial coward and a traitor, who continually sells this country’s interests out.

Whether it is dispatching Kiwi troops to the endless meat grinder in Iraq, or inviting US warships in defiance of our nuclear free ban.

Or giving foreign corporations the right to sue us if we pass laws that affect their profits.

Or sucking up to the Australians over their racist immigration policies.

Under the protection of parliamentary privilege John Key said, “The Labour Party are defending rapists, murderers and sex offenders”.

Let this spineless coward make this derogatory and defamatory statement outside of parliament.

Without the protection of parliamentary privilege and without the support of his crony in the Speaker’s Chair it will never happen.

  9. Please provide some evidence that this ex-soldier is ‘decorated’. He has general service medals relating to his deployments. These are not decorations.

But don’t let facts get in the way of some emotive spin.

Also Pat O’Day, I’d be interested in learning how inviting US Navy ships is in any way ‘in defiance’ of our nuclear free legislation.

      • If you have something relevant to add, like some evidence this guy is ‘a decorated soldier’ as claimed, please feel free to post it here.

Or is it that you also make the incorrect assumption that somehow all USN vessels are nuclear armed and powered?

Difficult to know what you’re on about really.

        • Whoa, Bob!! You’re demanding evidence that the soldier is “decorated” (and thereby an innocent man)?

When did the onus of proof shift to proving innocence?

You should be looking at evidence to prove any wrong-doing on his part. That is how Western justice works (or did, last time I looked).

          • I make no demands or claims about his innocence, simply about the accuracy of the statements made about him.

Surely being accurate when discussing a person’s history is important? If you are going to make claims, let them be correct. Or the question is asked, what else is wrong in the article? What other facts has the author been creative about?

The issue is the emotive drivel of claiming he is a ‘decorated soldier’. It is a weak attempt to paint him as some kind of hero. He probably performed very well in the army, it has no bearing on his current situation. Claiming he is something he isn’t, for no reason other than garnering sympathy is poor reporting.

If he’s innocent, let the facts stand for themselves. Don’t make claims about his previous military service that are not correct.

If he is in fact decorated, I’m sure the person making this claim will be happy to elaborate on what those decorations are, since the author deems it relevant enough to use as the opening line in the article.

If he is in fact decorated then simply state what he was awarded. Otherwise don’t make false claims. It does the author no credit, nor help the case of Ko Haapu.

            • If he’s innocent, let the facts stand for themselves. Don’t make claims about his previous military service that are not correct.

              1. You’ve made an assumption of guilt based on –?

              2. You’ve presented no evidence to the contrary of his military record.

If the author is wrong, you must have some basis upon which to base that opinion. Otherwise you’re jerking your knee for your own political agenda.

              • Yeah, my basis is the published photo of him wearing his medals after he left the service:

                https://s.yimg.com/ea/img/-/151111/b8868272z.1_20151110205230_000_gsucff4e.2_1-1b43qkg.jpg

                Let google be your friend.

                No decorations.

I’ve made no assumptions at all. Guilty or Innocent, let the facts stand for themselves. Falsely claiming he’s a decorated soldier is ignorant at best, disingenuous at worst. It does no credit to the author or the guy himself. If he’s like most serving or ex serving pers he’d be the first to correct the falsehood.

                  • Lol, see here’s the problem. You have no idea what you are talking about. None of those medals are decorations.

They are service medals. NZ OSM, GSM Afghan primary, and the Nato medal for Afghanistan. He’s also entitled to the NZ GSM (Regular), awarded to everyone who’s served more than three years.

Undoubtedly well earned and meaningful in their own right, those medals he is wearing are campaign medals issued for serving in an operational theater.

Just because someone has medals doesn’t make them decorated. Decorations are a very specific class of award, for example the Military Cross (MC) is a decoration.

                    • Bob, you’re splitting hairs. To 99% of the population, being awarded a “Service medal” is the same as “decorated”.

Or are you saying those medals aren’t his?

You’re either being pedantic or are accusing him of wearing someone elses’ medals. Which is it?

                    • No Frank, it’s pretty clear I’m not saying anything of the sort about the medals not being his. Try a little harder to read what I’ve written, rather than putting your own spin on things. His service in Afghanistan is well enough documented, and I’ve even pointed out he’s actually entitled to another medal as well, so stop making things up that aren’t there.

It’s most certainly not splitting hairs. Particularly not to someone who’s served in the military. The ignorance of a civilian in no way excuses making false claims about someone’s service, particularly since those claims are being made about him, not by him, and for political point scoring. He’s not ‘decorated’, that doesn’t diminish having operational medals, but to anyone who’s served the distinction is clear.

You’re either accurate, or you’re wrong. Pick one.

                    • Just because cooks get all the medals, doesn’t mean you can heap the same criticism on soldiers.

The guys who provide covering fire? You gana lambast them too?

Or the medics? Do they deserve your view of there medals?

I have never heard such a whiny little bitch. How dare you try and belittle with your back handed comments.

  10. Sadly… Ko Haapu is brown with a Maori name. The fact that someone has locked him up and John Key couldn’t care less will probably see his popularity rise even if he’d said nothing at all about it, other than to make it clear that he couldn’t care less
