  1. i dunno if people are aware how significant is the removal of ‘fair use’ of copyrighted material..(under tpp and the europe/

..if enforced..it means that websites will not even be able to publish headlines from other publications..let alone content..

..the rightwinger matthew drudge (the drudge report) sez it will put him out of business..

..and of course what i do @ http://www.whoar.co.nz/ will be no longer possible..(that’s ok tho’..i already have ‘plans’..)

.but my concerns are bye-the-bye..the removal of fair-use will still most criticism/satire…will be a crippling attack on free-speech..(perhaps the worst ever..)

..and this is what fucken matters

    • +100…if nothing else this is a threat to freedom of speech and democracy

Where are NZ’s political parties on this?

      • Asleep Chooky for sure.

The best thing all opposition Parties can do is state they will withdraw from TPPA when they take over Government.

They can now follow Canada’s New Democratic party whom I voted for once in the 1980’s when they were really the best democratic mob around and then they opposed the NAFTA free trade deal that all but wrecked Canada.

NDP are announcing before the Canadian Elections next week that when they become part of the next Government they will withdraw from TPPA.

        http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-politics/ndp-would-ignore-any-trans-pacific-partnership-deal-signed-during-election-campaign-mulcair-tells-tories

Canada’s New Democratic Party is signalling it will back out of any Trans Pacific Partnership trade pact signed during the country’s election campaign, saying Prime Minister Stephen Harper is overstepping his powers and ignoring domestic outcry.

        • +100 CLEANGREEN…”Canada’s New Democratic Party is signalling it will back out of any Trans Pacific Partnership trade pact…”

let them lead the way and create a domino effect !

    • It’s not just cancer.

I know someone with advanced incurable lung disease.

They have only 16% of normal lung function (imagine functioning after removing one of your lungs and two thirds of the remaining one).

WINZ refuses them assisted living status and instead deems them to be a job seeker.

      • terrible situation…my greatest sympathies…I also know someone in a similar condition who has to get around with oxygen cylinders..it would be absolutely impossible for this person to work

    • +100 Mary!…it beggars belief…the inhumanity of it…just when people need most to conserve their strength and try and get well without stress!

really someone should take this jonkey nact government on for ‘crimes against humanity’

…I am sure there would be some law that this govenment could be called to account on and sued under for damages

  2. this link was posted here yesterday….but here it goes again

‘ Is the End of Independent News and Websites of Bloggers in Sight? “Operating an Independent Website could become Completely Outlawed”.’

    http://www.globalresearch.ca/is-the-end-of-independent-news-and-websites-of-bloggers-in-sight-operating-an-independent-website-could-become-completely-outlawed/5481689

“According to Matt Drudge it is. He is an American political commentator and the creator and editor of the Drudge Report, an online news aggregator.

His website, according to Alexa has a global website rank of 616 and ranks in the USA at 132 and according to Quantcast is receiving, we think around 3 million hits a day or 90 million a month.

In a startling unscheduled interview with Alex Jones on infowars.com Drudge warns “that the very foundation of the free Internet is under severe threat from copyright laws that could ban independent media outlets, revealing that he was told directly by a Supreme Court Justice, “It’s over for me.”….

….Worse, it doesn’t matter where your servers are. For that’s not what defines publication. It also doesn’t matter who the material is aimed at: nor even what language it is in. Publication happens if someone in the UK downloads whatever it is. That, in itself, is the act of publication. This effectively censors the entire world’s press and media in the United Kingdom.

If the copyright laws in the US do go the way that Drudge says then one can only assume that the UK’s downloading rules will also apply there…

  3. I posted the following comment in a thread about Paul Henry. Thought I’d pop it in here, where apparently moderation rules are more lax and the “regulars” often hang out.

It was a response to a J Ryan who said “Reading the comments on this site confirms there are some dumb disillusioned idiots in this country, and traitors. No wonder you lost the election. Such bigoted views.”.

Unlike the smart, coherent loyalists over at Whale Oil or Kiwiblog, no doubt. Very open-minded comments on those blogs I find.
You’ll get a much more considered set of opinions on those blogs – some real intellectual weight, finely nuanced argument and loads of good old plain common sense.
You don’t want to waste your time here – this blog is shit. Start with arch bigot Bomber Bradbury the ringleader and it all goes downhill from there. Chris Trotter and all his fancy history going back to when he used to play with Karl and Friedrich at school is very sick-making. As for MacSkasy with all his cited references and cross-checked “facts” makes me puke. And fuck knows how that NZ First upstart got in here with his smart-arse insights into his party, the Hindu festival calendar and other random shit. That Kelly Ellis is so pretentious writing in English and stuff. Then there’s the other chicks, they’re so emotional: they never share recipes or good housekeeping tips – bitches.
But you’re right @JRyan, it’s the comments that are the shittest and that’s because the problem is the regulars, they just can’t help themselves.
@FrankMacSkasy – not only does he post actual articles but he feels he has to comment all over the place like a rash, can get quite nasty when provoked, has a soft spot for @Gosman though
@Countryboy – the first syllable of his name sums him up – expletive filled tirades, has a tendency to repeat himself ad nauseam
    @Cleangreen – never had a train-set as a child, rabid leftie cum-conspiracy theorist
@Chooky – compulsive commenter, will comment on anything that moves, best known for +100
@RichardChristie – the stingray of climate change, will lash out at slightest provocation
    @PhillipUre – ..half-formed sentences are his..
..is it ever possible to overdo rhetorical questions..?
..paragraphs and punctuation are right-wing totalitarian constructs..
@JSBark – loiters around the caption competitions, general smart-arse
@WildKatipo – tries to be logical but his leftie ideology gets the better of him
@Lara – balanced viewpoints from having a chip on both shoulders
@MikeinAuckland – occasionally makes sense despite being a JAFA
@RobertAtack – we are so doomed and it’s all the Greens fault
@Elle – conspiracy theorist, nuff said
@Gosman – asks what he thinks are pointed questions but has no answers, plays victim when challenged, struggles with Google
@Andrew – asks what he thinks are pointed questions but has no answers, stupendous intellect, has clever turns of phrase like “tin-foil hat”, “loonie left”
@TheRest and the above – a mix of randoms who give a shit about justice, equality (of opportunity), a liveable planet, transparency and who deep down love this country and don’t want it sold out.

    • +100…lol…loved the comment on Chooky…”will comment on anything that moves”

…well chooks do you know …they pick at insects and scratch around…and they say +100% to their sisters( chooks) and brothers ( roosters)quite reassuringly often if they are in agreement

(most of the rest is bollocks

( and where is Mary?…a huge oversight)

…all ‘J Ryan’ proves is that he is observing us all very closely and taking notes…WE MUST BE RATHER IMPORTANT!!!!…Keep it up guys on the FAMOUS DAILY BLOG!)

btw…J Ryan sounds like Possum Hooton to me..or at least an associate

      • Im with you chooky ,The right always accuse the people who don’t agree with their rabid right rantings as conspiracy theorists,
mainly because they know nothing and only want to believe a liar and crooked pm.
I like Countryboy and Wild Katipo and all the other regulars ,well most of them ,and Martyn and Frank do a great job bringing to light the evils of a National government, and that’s the rub,J Ryan cant face the truth but he likes reading it , weve rattled his cage
regulars keep it I know I will.

  4. does anyone remember when nz used to be known as ‘the workers’ paradise’..?

..that was a fucken long time ago (ideologically)…

..and the labour party did that…made that ‘workers’ paradise’..

..the labour party now..?..not so much..eh..?

  5. What they dont tell you on Morning Report or National Radio..radionz

    ‘MH17 report’

    https://www.rt.com/shows/crosstalk/318603-mh17-report-investigation-results/

“Fifteen months after the tragic loss of MH17 over war-torn Ukraine the Dutch Safety Board has presented the results of its investigation. From the very beginning the explicit aim of this probe was to determine why the plane was destroyed in midair. Will we ever learn the “who” and “why” parts of this tragedy?CrossTalking with John Laughland, Alexander Mercouris, and Dmitry Babich.”

  6. Spot on – I do love this country and don’t want it sold out!
Also thinking of our future generations…. Something this government does not. It is a ‘me’ and ‘now’ government – not a ‘them’ and ‘later’ government. This sort of government will destroy the planet, sad to say.
