Two of NZ’s favourite musicians, great food and company and a chance to hear a brief update on TPPA developments.

The challenge is in the names of  Consumer NZ, Ngati Kahungunu, Oxfam, Greenpeace, Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, New Zealand Nurses Organisation, the Tertiary Education Union, and Professor Kelsey.

  1. The TPP is expected to be signed today. its said on the web that governments have to ratify it,groser says hes pleased labour is not against tpp.

  2. Tv 1 this a.m prof Jane Kelsey said NZ is the ones swallow dead rats other countries are pushing for what they want nz is going for anything which wont be much.
    Jane said we wont be told if the deal is signed what the contents are for thirty days after ,then Key and Groser can massage it in that time to make it sound not so bad. While America and other countries will have time to go over the deal and make sure they can change things to suit their protectionisms,NZ once signed wont have that right ,plus Key will have month to make sure the government ratifies it.the public will not be informed and after 30 days, too late to protest .Key and Grosers blatent ignoring of NZ and couldn’t care less attitude borders on the criminal.There will be very little good in it for us and lots of nothing to help NZ.

    • Firstly, the TPPA text must be released in 30days – to give various civil servants time to write the thing up in a digestible format. Secondly, the agreement CANNOT be formally ratified before 90 days from today. That was a request of the evil Americans who want to give everyone time to consult back home. If you’re gonna slag the TPPA off for philosophical reasons, no problem, but please at least make some effort to be factual.

        How can we (or anyone) be “factual” when the text was negotiated in secret (except between the twelve negotiating countries)?

    The TPPA is all about the drive by the U$ for world military and corporate trade hegemony, people and democracy are sidelined.Corporate Man Key is obviously part of this picture.
