John Campbell MCing a discussion with Nicky Hager & Fran O’Sullivan – ‘1 year on from the publishing of ‘Dirty Politics’ what has changed and what now for the future of public journalism’.
Without a doubt, Nicky Hager’s ‘Dirty Politics‘ has given us unprecedented insight into political abuse of power and open manipulation of the media. 1 year on from its publishing, what has changed in NZ media and what is the future of public journalism?
John Campbell will host this discussion with well respected journalist Fran O’Sullivan and the author of Dirty Politics, Nicky Hager.
This will book out faster than any other Table Talk we’ve brought you, so book your ticket now. This will be live streamed on The Daily Blog from 7.30pm 29th September.
Over the last 6 months, The Daily Blog and IKA have brought you monthly current affairs discussions you can’t see anywhere else. With hosts like Wallace Chapman, Lisa Owen, Mike McRoberts, Paula Penfold, Mihi Forbes and John Campbell and panelists like Jane Kelsey, Keith Locke, Bill Ralston, Simon Wilson, Dr Jackie Blue, Maxine Gay, Jacinda Ardern and Dr Michelle Dickinson, TDB has taken the demise of public broadcasting seriously and have offered genuine alternative.
It isn’t cheap, and if you want to continue seeing the kind of quality debate on issues like the war in Afghanistan, sexism in the workplace, the role of public broadcasting, the privatisation of social services and the TPPA, then please donate here so we can continue providing you with the best hosts talking about the true issues with the best opinion makers.
We can either blame the mainstream media or be the media.
UPDATE: This event is now booked out. You can watch from the bar area, but it will be a first come first served situation and once the bar area is full, that will be it. The bar opens at 5, if you want to be there, come early. The entire event will be live streamed here on The Daily Blog from 7.30pm on Tuesday 29th of September.
Great stuff as this is about getting some coverage of current affairs which is a dying art in NZ now.
Perhaps some sound bites can be leaked to MSM for a wider cobverage too?
It is time to put the government to the fire here as it has compete control of our public funded media as it is.

Feel stupid for being in such educated. well read and intelligent company, that I always thought MSM stood for ;
Money Making Myopics
Now that I understand you are referring to the Media, nothing in my interpretation of the acronym has actually changed !!
MSM and the Natz have shut down any investigative journalism?
Well done TDB 🙂
This is what intelligent media is all about and what the people want. An alternative news site giving the public the chance to hear and see what msm is unable and unwilling to do, report and present current affairs. And to get the star broadcaster as well to MC 🙂
Good balance too, with NZH’s Fran O’Sullivan debating with Nicky Hager, guaranteeing some objectivity.
Will this be streamed?
