Paula is promising to bash state housing tenants who quibble about the crap, freezing cold death boxes she likes to pass off as State Housing…

Paula Bennett signals crackdown on state tenants who turn down houses
State tenants who turn down the offer of a house without good reason could soon be dumped from the waiting list.

In the year to last October 4155 people on the waiting list turned down a house, Social Housing Minister Paula Bennett told a housing policy forum at the National Party annual conference on Saturday.

Of those, 498 or 12 per cent turned down houses without good or sufficient reason.

…why is Paula promising this?

Firstly National always bash beneficiaries when they want focus taken off of something bad happening like Serco.

Secondly National are about to review 5000 state house tenants so that will mean thousands of state house tenants complaining to the media. What Paula is trying to do by painting state house tenants as ungrateful is to try and cast their complaints to being kicked out of their homes for private interests as ingratitude.

National are painting state house tenants in this light to mute the criticism about to break loose as they get informed they’re being kicked out of their homes.

It’s part of the National Party response to any crisis. Offer some tiny thing that will do nothing to solve the problem and constantly refer to it when challenged by the media. Other examples is the tiny do nothing Capital Gains Tax that isn’t a Capital Gains tax, the pittance for first time home buyers and the review of Serco.

Paula is setting state house tenants up so that when they do start complaining NZers already see them in an unfavourable framing while no one will note that her kicking 5000 tenants out and the small % who turn down some of the awful state houses she is offering are two different groups that don’t detract in any way from the righteous criticisms about to be aimed at National.

  1. You know most predators always single out the lame , the sick , the old and the young….

Its a winning formula that keeps them fed.

National MP’ s are a perfect demonstration of this tactic. It keeps them fed.

On the flesh of the weakest and most vulnerable members of the public herd. They have no conscience about it . Just like a pack of wolves .To them , …it makes perfect sense. Just as it does to predators.

And the Alpha wolf here is Crosby Textor. They direct the plan. Paula Benefit is merely the middle wolf who takes orders from the Alpha’s.

But just like a wolf in the wild only has a life expectancy of 5 years… Paula Benefit only has a certain amount of shelf-life left when her National predator pack gets kicked out of their home range by another group….and she knows it. Or if she doesn’t…is a rather dumb wolf.

But …one only has to sniff the breeze to know change is coming…and that Auckland housing crisis isn’t looking too good for National. Nor is the TTPA….nor or a lot of things , actually these days…

So who knows…she might have to finish her days in an Australian owned private state house herself…the sort of dilapidated dog kennel she used to have to live in before she climbed over the other dogs heads to get to her middle pack position.

    • She’s another goose stepper in Commander Key’s Construct to punish the underprivileged just like she was while living on the DPB in a state house before being hand picked and brainwashed to be a model far right despot.

Paula will make a good right wing PM.

She has shown she is capable of being as mean as can be for aiding the rich, and robbing the poor.

There is nothing better than converting the poor they say because they will do anything not to back there and This sell-out is evidence of this.

“No Conscience no care or compassion is the Bilderberg way.

    • She’ll end on a string of highly paid directorships just like the rest of the has-been politicians. Plus she has her gold plated MP pension plan and a bunch of lifetime perks. In other words, she will be a state beneficiary just like she was early on, but his time she’s at the top of the tree so she gets even more than she did before.

  2. Paula Bennet has been mooted as next PM,and why not? she mirrors John Key in ruthlessness, she will do just as she’s told by the same people John Key takes orders from.
Crosby Textor will change tack soon, the old manipulative tricks have become old hat, the people have become sickened by these two Corporate tricksters, typical of their kind. Put up false flags to distract people from the real problems ,shout and snarl as an answer to questions, degrade the people they are going shaft, smirk and belittle and blame Labour.
Circle the wagons around yes men incompetants, who neither see nor hear problems.
Have investigations into places like privatised items like prisons, schools, healthcare, welfare , all the goodies that must be made ready for pillaging by Paula Restock and Goldman Sachs, for the corporations, two of Keys mates from USA brought in especially to do the job.
The railways have escaped privatisation because no one wants them so no point making them serviceable for the people who have paid for them ,the taxpayer.
The most prevalent thing Key is prone to is lie, deny, and pass the buck to someone else and make sure he has a fall guy to take the blame ,and make sure he is out of the country when the probervial hits the fan.
Such a nice smiley blokey type, he wasn’t called the smiling assassin for nothing ,in fact he was chosen for that character flaw by the very people who planted him like false evidence on the unfortunate people of NZ.

  3. “Pull’yer Benefit” has delivered a masterclass in tory sadism, first slash the state housing stock, then deride and actively harass the poor sods on the subsequently expanded waiting list!

and sick ‘ironies’ pile up–new rentiers get to charge bloated prices for what used to be affordable working class housing–assisted by accommodation supplements courtesy of taxpayers

  4. State House Tenants -“Useless eaters” are they, Paula. Be careful, Paula, lie down with dogs you get up with fleas.

  5. “Other examples is the tiny do nothing Capital Gains Tax that isn’t a Capital Gains tax, the pittance for first time home buyers and the review of Serco.”
Add to that list the pathetic $25 per week increase on benefits announced in the ‘grudget’… not taking effect until April next year. Beneficiaries rejoice, and try not to overspend for the next 9 months.
Someone in opposition should inspect some of the houses that have been turned down and compile a list of the maintenance that they need, and shove it down Paula Bennet’s throat. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

  6. Hmm…

Well you’ve all reacted to Martyn’s blog the way I might have expected you to (and I largely agree with what you all say about this), but you have all missed the key (ho! ho!) point in here.

What are the standards that define a valid or vexatious reason for turning down a house?

This needs to be known. You can only fight this sort of shit on facts and the neolibs always botch facts.

In fact they hate facts (ho, ho, ho!)

  7. At the last cabinet meeting, ministers talked about some pressing issues, one of the most pressing being how to deflect attention from the recent and most glaringly obvious political howlers from the National government. Unable to come up with a better plan, one of them suggested it was time for another spin of the Wheel of (Mis)fortune. Bene -bashing came up again. After all, you can’t expect National to go after a group that can actually fight back, can you?

  8. Go hard, Martyn. John Key did a bit of this pre-framing the other day when he sowed public distrust of his opponents by describing anyone offering information about the cluster-fuck that is MECF as having vested interests.

At the same time he undermined the supposed inquiry by blurting out that he thinks Evans jumped because that’s what Serco told him!

    What

    An

    Arsehole.

  9. Central Government nor Local Government have any right to use taxpayers’/ratepayers’ monies to give freeloading self-entitled bludgers cheap housing. Time we get a government that will make people take responsibility for their own actions, not give them lives of indulgence, funded by decent hardworking and successful people.

    • Time also we get a govt that starts putting the clamps on corporate welfare and their sense of self entitlement too , eh?

Maybe that would alleviate some of the atrocious conditions so many decent hard working people suffer by subsidizing these giant bludgers by having to work for a minimum wage in the land of plenty.

Truly mate …not only are your statements laughable but you demonstrate that you are a total idiot .

    • You’re talking about landlords! I so get that! Totally agree that this bludging pack of skivers should be made to run their ‘businesses’ without having their hands in the tax payers’ pockets. (Right hand for extra rent. Left hand for tax breaks. Right foot for accommodating laws. Left foot for booting out horrible tenants so they fall into the WINZ mill. Them.)

Well done you! Thanks for speaking out. Another voice for reason!

      Or – did I mis-read you?

  10. National three default settings when under heavy criticism or involved in a scandal;

    1. Blame previous Labour government
    2. Release story on ‘welfare abuse’
    3. Blame Global Financial Crisis or similar overseas event

    With the housing crisis in Auckland, we can now add a fourth default setting;

    4. Blame Auckland Council and/or RMA

But the Main Golden Rule for all National Ministers is Never, Ever, Accept Responsibility. Never. (And if in doubt, refer to Default Settings 1 through to 4.)

  11. Perfectly rounded description of the Nats and how they operate.
Oh and love the “tart” picture of PullyaBenefit.
