Significance of TV3 Poll

I’m no fan of TV3 and have less time for their polls, but the significance of last nights poll is interesting. The Poll has National on 46.4 (down 3.4), Labour 30.4 (up 1.3), Green Party on 11.1 (up 1.8), NZ First 8.1 (up 1.3), but most interestingly…

The poll also showed more than half of the respondents (52 per cent) believed Mr Key had gone too far in pulling waitress Amanda Bailey’s ponytail, the news of which had broken at the end of April. About 42 per cent accepted Mr Key’s explanation that he was “just horsing around” while eight per cent did not know.

One of the overlooked reasons National are so incredibly popular is because Key has done something no National Party leader has been able to do, and that is appeal to NZ women in such an extraordinarily large way. Previously women always had favoured Labour, but Key has managed to woo them over while screwing solo parents and making life far harder for them. This disconnect between Key’s popularity and how he’s screwing women over with draconian welfare policy is the secret to his success, but this poll suggests that his bullying Amanda Bailey with 10 separate hair pulls has impacted that vote.

Sexism is so boundless in NZ,  women know what it’s like to be touched by a creep in the workplace and that may have punctured their view of Key. National will try and soften their image up with free medical for kids and the illusion of $25 extra for beneficiaries, but this touches a raw nerve for many and could suggest the gloss is finally leaving him.

If National lose female voters, their giddy highs in the polls could finally be over.

  1. I think Key is increasingly seen like a lot of despots, irritating, creepy, dodgy and in fact generally untrustworthy on any level but tolerable because of a lack of a viable alternative and that we are so very mislead into believing our economy is a “Rockstar”. And this false impression is backed by Auckland’s property market bubble.

But what is going to hurt National more than anything is what is brewing in our Ponzi schemed property market. It was outlined in April 2014 by Forbes under “12 Reasons why New Zealand’s Economic Bubble Will End in Disaster” This gives no prediction as to when this will occur but the logic is hard to fault, we are and have repeated the mistakes of the past that Japan and the US have done with our debt levels.

National have done NOTHING to sort this mess out apart from their time honoured false pretences of doing something they are not and I see nothing today that changes that belief. It’s when Nationals voter base lose their shirts will things turn ugly for them. And no amount of lies will cut it the.

    • Like X-ray we all I think can see through the façade now.

Even in the beehive yesterday the speaker had to pull im up when he was running off at the mouth snipping.

Almost like a rabid dog he was, and totally out of control.

      • @ CLEANGREEN – and he wasn’t much better today either!

This afternoon in Parliament, Andrew Little was challenging John Key about the McCully/Saudi farm/sheep deal issue. And all Key’s responses were about the same – smarmy comments blaming the previous Labour government for the present situation, referring back to as far as 2007. On three occasions Key told Little he’s been set up by Annette King and Phil Goff, to which King called him (Key) a liar. After the third try, Key was asked to withdraw his snide remarks by the Speaker.

Pity he’s protected by Parliamentary privilege!

Key had no credible answers to Little’s questions, so resorted to continuous sniping, attempting to justify his and his government’s corruption!

With the exception of a few (1%), Key is a disaster for NZ. Why are we tolerating his devious, slimy behaviour time and time again, greasing and sliding his way out of contentious issues all the time?

Anyone else acting the same way would be held to account. So why not John Key? Does he have everyone by the short and curlies? Or is his back being watched, so he is able to continue his dirty politics for a specific end goal?

As for still polling as preferred PM, it’s a set up to keep promoting him! He’s as arrogant, dirty and shady as they come. He’s genetically tainted with a personal character flaw, causing him to lie and cheat his way through life, a fact becoming more transparent.

So where is the evidence Key is still No 1 in the preferred PM stakes and his grubby government is still in the lead as far as Kiwis’ preferences are concerned? All hogwash as far as I’m concerned!

  2. You only have to look at his fb page to see how some of the women of this sad country think of him. It is full of “I love you’s”, “the greatest PM ever”, “thanks so much for visiting us”. Never fails to amaze me and I have great pleasure telling them to pull their panties up and use their brains for a change.

    • If NZ women are so thick and can not see through Donkey Jonkeys thin superficial veneer, then they deserve him and this shows the lack of intelligence of many in this country.

I am blown away that many in NZ continue to stand by and defend such a jerk of a man in disguise of a corporation. He is a proven liar and is selling out our country to the highest bidder. His lack of ethics and phoniness and elitism and out of touch attitude should throw major flags up. Oil spills and accidents are happening right now in our waters. People had better wake up before it is too late.

Many are just asleep at the wheel and believe whatever the govt. and its govt. owned media has to spew out so they deserve to have a leader who is a disgrace.
Stick your heads further down into the sand or WAKE UP AND TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY AND ELECT A LEADERSHIP TEAM THAT WILL DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE IN EVERYONE’S BEST INTEREST.

Get the crooks and banksters and greedy corporations out and allow our country to heal and grow.
IF ICELAND CAN DO IT, WE CAN TOO.

    • It is a similar attitude to how some English kings used to regard it as their right to sleep with any woman they fancied, and if she didn’t want to that wasn’t particularly important, she was expected to anyway. After all, it was (or should be) an honour to be chosen by the king. Fast forward to 21st century NZ, women want to be chosen for a bit of horse play by the smiling JK, they are doing their bit for NZ if they do and it is an honour to do so. If they feel bad about it afterwards they can either go into complete denial (like the ones you are talking about here), or if they are brave enough they can come out against it and be publicly castigated like some cast off royal strumpet.

    • Facebook adoration for Key was probably written by Key or his henchmen.I havnt met one woman who likes Key,except one wealthy woman who said she dosnt particulary like him but hopes he will protect her money!

      • Sadly I have met many though I haven’t heard as much about him from them since his waitress harassing was exposed. Don’t forget many people are still under the illusion that the news is true and that (and talk back which they also believe to be full of real people rather than bigots) is where they get their information about the world. While the great MSM continues to feed the great honest John myth – or the truth is exposed by said media (or everything reaches it’s logical conclusion and almost everyone is in pain) – then there will be no backlash. Though the creep factor could get more traction (the vision of him fondling young girls’ hair is hard to shake, even for the fans).

  3. The fact remains that Key committed common assault and workplace harassment over a period of 6 months.

If that was a leader of the opposition or a common citizen….that individual would be facing court action and possibly a prison term.

The same sort of mindless adoration was doled out to Adolf Hitler in his rise to power by some women during the 1930’s…and remember I use the term ‘some ‘….proving that there are always those who are blinded by being in the presence of those of high social position and power.

And along with the men they gave slavish adoration towards that person.

It is this kind of basic idolatry that enables those who commit these acts to be excused by their supporters.

This is the same sort of phenomena that we see here with Key . And equally as dangerous in subverting the law and our democracy.

We live in sad and barbaric times …reminiscent of tribes who once practiced all manner of skulduggery under the auspices of it’s high priesthoods in order to hold the reigns of power.

  4. “…could suggest the gloss is finally leaving him.”

Dear God Martyn, please let your prophesy be true.

    Please…

  5. Martyn, I thing you may be correct with that link. None of the other parties leaders posses much charm. Little has little, green is unappealing unless you think you can kiss a frog, Act, say no more. Maori party, not so much. New Zealand first maybe?

  6. When a political leader’s popularity is determined by his sex appeal rather than policies and impact on the poorest in our society, then that shows the depths we have plumbed.

They say that in a democracy we deserve the government we get.

Orwell almost got it right in in his novel, ‘Nineteen Eightyfour’. If Big Brother had just a wee bit more sexed-up appeal…

Bare-chested Putin had it sussed. (And we even got our own version of the bare-chested Leader…https://fmacskasy.wordpress.com/2015/05/24/this-is-news/)

    • You are of course correct. As Little stated on radio Live this morning, (good on them for giving him a voice – there is life after Campbell – same owner too – rant over) Labour needs to be more in touch with the people if it wants to govern. And if sex appeal is a part of that then it is a part of it. As you say “in a democracy we deserve the government we get”
