I don’t have time to count the ways Tracey is wrong, but I do want to focus on her most appalling claim…
Given that our intelligence agencies have gained an almost comic reputation over the years, most Kiwis probably struggle to picture our spies getting up to anything very sinister, the Dotcom debacle notwithstanding.
…this is Tracey’s worst crime in a column so pandering it makes Fox News look credible. The SIS and GCSB have both been caught acting illegally. The GCSB has been caught illegally spying on over 80 NZers and they went to the NSA and told them secretly that the legislation Key was telling NZers would prevent mass surveillance will actually allow it.
The SIS has been caught colluding with the PMs Office to smear the Leader of the Opposition with falsified information months before the 2011 election.
Both departments have been given vast new powers and budgets and can now spy on anyone for 24 hours without a warrant.
Adding the revelations Edward Snowden has made, the nonchalance that Watkins articulates is so spineless it gives an example of why the NZ electorate are such sleepy hobbits. If this is political opinion from the mainstream, it’s lap dog journalism as opposed to a watch dog journalism.
Watkins does however add some insight with her views on why Labour betrayed the Greens. Now Labour are chasing the middle, they need to over compensate on national security issues, and placing Shearer in there as opposed to Metiria means the Intelligence Agencies will be given a free ride rather than genuine oversight. Shearer tried to secretly cut a deal with Key on the GCSB legislation. While he was publicly turning up to meetings to denounce the law, he was also privately meeting with Key to try and find a way to vote for it.
Labour won’t protect us from these Intelligence Agencies, they will quietly sell us out so that they can convince the authority worshipping sleepy hobbits of muddle Nu Zilind that they are tough on National Security.
If this is how gutless Labour intend to be for American interests, there is little doubt they will roll over on the TPPA as well.
Claiming Metiria’s belly laugh somehow rules her out from providing oversight on an agency that has proven itself corrupt only proves the biased view of the mainstream media are part of the problem.
So Labour are part of the National Party game to spy on NZs and introduce the TPP,thats probably why David Cunliffe didn’t want support partners in the election ,he didn’t want to win ! David Shearer acted the part of gentleman and let Key get away with everything without a fight because shearer was going behind closed doors,Keys mate by the sound of it ,if this article is to be believed.

Everything Key is gossiped about is allowed to be a fizzer ,a few words of outrage by opposition mps then nothing ,no wonder Key is so arrogant,he knows there is no one to really challenge him.

I used to know a cell of radicals – they may have even been revolutionaries – it is a long time ago. Anyway, one day they concluded that the SIS was spying on them. They threw themselves to work as they endeavoured to identify the spies and then set themselves to SPY ON THE SPIES SPYING ON THEM. They became so obsessive that they clean forgot to do anything revolutionary.
I suggest, without totally forgetting about the distortions in the security service, that everyone just gets on with fomenting revolution, or working on ideas and policies that might help the put-upon sections of the population, or whatever it is you would have liked to have done, had it not been for the SIS.
We’ll deal with the Thought Police when they show up.

What she says is fascinating in itself . But if one were to use her interview as a clue as to how important NZ’s agricultural heritage was in terms of earning money , you can begin to see the wealth that was plundered .

I believe that because the historic and on-going Farmer Money Swindle has meant that our political crooks have had to borrow money to hide that aforementioned swindle, they’ve had to compromise us all to foreign money lenders who are now in control of our economy .
I believe that everything that’s wrong with our beautiful New Zealand / Aotearoa stems from that .

“the biased view of the mainstream media are part of the problem.” They are more than just one piece of the puzzle, they are the keystone….If NZ had a fourth estate worth more than a bowl of dried goat faeces, then little Johnny Numnums wouldn’t have got within a hundred miles of being PM…And that’s just for starters… Can one even imagine what this country would be like if the truth was the yardstick for public dissemination?

Shearer was a plant from the right, we should have rejected him after Goff, as he has no balls, or would shun spying on us all either as he never complained at all when SIS was in the mincer over Ede/Key debarkle.

It’s hard to think about China as a country with a debt problem, but that’s precisely what it is.
China’s ratio of total debt to GDP is 282%, according to the McKinsey Global Institute. That includes borrowing by the government, banks, corporations, and households.
By comparison, the United States’ ratio of total debt to GDP is 269%. Greece’s was 260% at the time of its crisis.
If we hitch up to this lot US/China then we are certainly going to be coerced into more indebtedness as these others are already.
Perhaps this is the master plan for these other leaches to stuck our assets and wealth just to keep them alive?

Oversight of the NZ security apparatus is more important than ever at this time. You may not have noticed (If you watch mainstream media) there are three huge geopolitical events occurring. The Bric Nations are establishing alternative monetary systems to the US dollar and the USA is going all out to prevent this even risking nuclear war with Russia. We are nearing the end of cheap energy. This is despite the recent drop in the price of oil. The whole ISIS libya Syria Iraq debacle has its ultimate cause in this and once again it is USA creating chaos in an effort to maintain its “right” to cheap energy. Thirdly the drive to globalisation being carried out in secret and proven to reduce jobs, reduce the income of the middle class and enrich the 1%. To allow our security services to blindly follow the immoral path Washington has chosen in this situation is not good for NZ. NZ needs independent security overseen by loyal New Zealanders not people whose allegiance is to Corporate America or anyone else. The week kneed exclusion of Metiria Turei by National and Labour shows were their allegiance lies.
John Key wants us to go to war and I have some questions;
1. Why isn’t Israel & Saudi Arabia undertaking direct action against ISIS? These countries have massive military forces, border the theatre of ops, Israel has nukes etc funded and supported by US/UK but you don’t see or hear of any Israeli or Saudi moves to join in the coalition fight and commit their forces against ISIS? Do they know ISIS not going to attack them? Why is that?
2. Why is Key so keen to get us into a war without following proper democratic protocols e.g. get Parliament vote on it?
3. Why is there evidence pointing to the fact that ISIS is funded via the US?
