ISSUE 1: New Zealand has been successful in its campaign to become a non permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

The campaign began back in early 2008 when Helen Clark was NZ’s prime minister. Back then the incoming National led Government picked up the campaign and committed to it. And last week the UN General Assembly voted in NZ’s favour.

The diplos, government ministers received bipartisan support from the Labour Party, and former leader David Shearer spent considerable time in New York over the past month talking up NZ’s credentials.

The message to other countries was NZ would commit to being a voice on the Security Council for other smaller states, and pushed its reputation as an honest broker for human rights, its independence underscored by its anti-nuclear laws, and it’s approach to global security.

But has the National led Government been true to this national identity in recent years?

ISSUE 2: This week the new Parliament sat for the first time since the elections.

The Governor General’s speech from the throne, a speech that outlines the new government’s intentions, what it plans to deliver over the next three years.

The National led minority Government has indicated a wish to address poverty and to commit to a more fairer society.

It seems to be acting like a chastised bully. A being that has been caught out misusing its considerable power and is now trying to convince the country and itself that it has exorcised itself of the bad eggs within!

It may just be, that the reality of it being exposed for years of dirty politics and cyber bullying, often orchestrated from the shadows, didn’t just horrify Kiwis who continue to share a sense of fairness… But horrified the more honourable members of the National Party itself.

If that’s the case, then actions will speak louder than words. And while John Key, who was up to his ears in dirty politics muck, may have won the elections, the Prime Minister has a long way to go before he will experience a rapprochement between his government and a significant proportion of Kiwis.

  1. The UN is at the heart of the corruption of dirty politics. As the consumate civil system it focuses on human rights and ignores the natural rights which protect the minority in a true democracy. This same corruption is evident within the NZ state.

  2. This Prime Minister is bogus.

There are and have been many sterling examples of ‘Prime Ministers ‘and ‘Presidents ‘ who have ‘won’ elections.

    Nixon was one of them.

This world has seen all manner of dictators and tyrants ‘win’ elections.

He is also untrustworthy and will not /cannot be vindicated as a bonefied ‘leader’ of our country until a proper ,unbiased , independant legal inquiry is made into alleged corruption within the upper ranks of its heirachy.

As for this new U.N position….like the book ‘Hollow Men’….now we have a ‘Hollow Government ‘ posing as a paragon of democracy and virtuos humanitarianism while at the same time bullshitting us about mass surveillance , five eyes spy network , and the reasons for not only deploying troops in an overseas war aligned with Uncle Sam …but the REAL reason their there.

And it aint got nothing to do with ‘peacekeeping’ , ‘ engineers’ ‘, reeducation ‘ ‘aid relief’ or any other contrived crap.

Keys sending men and women from this country to kill other human beings.

Maybe he should have saved us from all the puerile lying , stayed at the barbecue and kept on drinking those beers…as thats all what he seems good for. At least there he would have had an excuse for all the bullshit he talks.
