A brief word on Roger Douglas giving Labour advice in the Herald

As part of the Herald’s desire to appoint the leader of Labour as well as the leader of National, they hilariously ask Roger Douglas for his opinion on the Labour Party.

Asking Roger Douglas his opinion of Labour is like asking a cancerous tumour for its opinion of a patient it’s been cut from.

Throughout his whole ‘Labour lost touch’ advice, Douglas didn’t note the character assassination of Cunliffe at the hands of the Herald…

…where is that $100 000 bottle of wine?

    • Surly Rogered suggests a “locum tenens leader” be appointed.
In my opinion it’s generally a good rule of thumb idea doing the very thing the “National’s ‘Izveztia’” writers* suggests you shouldn’t do.
If they are all so keen to dump Cunliffe that sounds like a good reason for keeping him in the job.

*I couldn’t force myself to write the lie “journalists”.

  1. That’s why Cunliffe absolutely deserves another crack!
If Labour let their decisions be dictated to by a dictatorial media then it’s all over red rover forever.
And once we get our new Newspaper, TV and Radio Station rolled out, the real stories , told by real journalists will be the only show in town!

  2. Plus a whole bunch of other questions the Herald’s editor has yet to answer…

Which, I guess, could be summed up thusly; when did the Herald become National’s ‘Izveztia’?!

  3. I imagine that the bottle of wine is up John Key’s arse, which would explain the media all scrambling to keep their tongues firmly planted there.

  4. roger douglas should be in prison , the fucking short arsed old scum bag . He’s [ it’s ] the architect of our dysfunctions and should be tried for treason .
The herald asking him anything other than ‘ Is the noose tight enough ? ‘ is an outrage . Boycott the Herald immediately !

  5. So far the MSM has asked nearly every political pillock about what Labour should do. Nearly all of them have absolutely nothing to do with the Labour Party and/or Labour ideals – our brilliant MSN doesn’t think that is a problem, just ask an opinion of anyone who knows nothing and you will get what you want – know nothing drivel. Their thirst for fatuous, mocking comments about Labour have driven them to seek out Don Brash, Bob Jones, Roger Douglas and other know nothing political hacks. The MSM might as well go further and seek comment from Kim Jong Un of North Korea or President Assad of Syria, I’m sure they know just as much.
The people they haven’t asked are the Labour people themselves, but hey who knows to know the truth these days, The NZ MSM sure don’t.

  6. Actually, much of what Douglas says in the article makes sense so perhaps we should not be too eager to ‘shoot the messenger’.

This, however, is not an endorsement of policies that were pursued in the eighties.

    • Why don’t you go fuck yourself !

      No , no . Wait ?

I’m getting ahead of myself . Please bear with me .
roge is an opportunistic sociopath and pig torturer . He laid in wait like a spider , hidden within the Labour Party for his opportunity to pounce . And what better a place to hide than in full view as Labour Minister of Finance ? When he did indeed pounce , sinking his fangs into David Lange’s back then once having rounded up his fellow caucus members , or Lizard People if you prefer , they stole all our stuff and things , created the burgeoning under-class of people fat fucking paula bennett loves to torture and made us laughing stocks of most countries , except the USA , which is where douglas picked up the neoliberal virus from in the first place .
Don’t shoot the messenger you say . Ok . Lets hang the cunt then ?

Now , you can go fuck yourself .

For all you wee sensitive types , sorry about the ‘ fuck ‘ and ‘ cunt ‘ words .

      • Yeah I wrote a similar opinion earlier on but it seems was deleted….fair enough , I suppose as it was a bit rough and ready.

But I cant think of a more treasonous ‘Benedict Arnold’ vampire than that bastard. And to think people – let alone the Herald take that prick seriously enough to actually ask the mongrels bloody opinion….The virus should have been done for treason decades ago …but like Key ….or any other corrupt crook in political circles these days….do they get tried , sentenced and imprisoned?

NO !!!! They get fucking photos with All Blacks and titles such as ‘Sir’ instead….

Bloody sickening. and COUNTRYBOY….maybe its summit about us rural folks having to yell across the paddocks at the dogs…or not having to worry about ‘office decorum’…or something in the water…

But Im in agreement…that treasonous fucker is the biggest cunt that ever wasted 9 months of a womans pregnancy being born.

    • @ MIKESH – you obviously are not aware of the catchphrases for neo liberalism that were liberally inserted all through that article…either that or you were and are a neo liberal dupe yourself.

Either way…if you are ignorant , or if your a willful supporter of that hateful ideology ( and thus a supporter of a 1% ruling elite ‘born to rule’ bastard)…….you might care to listen for the faint and distant sounds of pitchforks being sharpened in the distance.

      It dont bode well.

      • “Such principles would drive policy-making towards:

*No personal income tax for low-income earners.
*A guaranteed minimum income for those in work.
*Risk and healthcare savings accounts for all with a view towards retirement.

This would be paid for by an end to corporate welfare, an end to middle-class welfare capture, moving the retirement age to 70 over 20 years, better efficiencies in health, education and welfare and an end to Working for Families once a guaranteed minimum income arrangement has been worked out.”

        Catchphrases for neoliberalism??

        • Got three suggestions-

          1) go read the article again.

          2) read up a little on what neo liberalism is :and how its ‘marketed’.

          3) learn to ‘read between the lines ‘ abit….these people know their doctrines would be a hanging offense if their real motives were explained publicly.

I could tell at a glance it reeked of neo liberal motives and agenda.

And one other thing I will digress on as a pertinent example of a convert to Douglas ‘s neo liberalism…our own current Minister for Finanace , who stated :

‘We should be glad we have a LOW WAGE economy as this encourages OVERSEAS FOREIGN INVESTMENT’.

TRANSLATION : ‘We should be glad we have a viable peasant working class that is totally divided , willing to work for an unrealistically low wage that doesn’t either A) keep up with inflation and B ) and is far below a realistic living standard. And because of this we can help out our 1% ‘BORN TO RULE’ buddies and mates to systematically rape , plunder and debase this country’.

Now , …does the former statement of our Minister of Finance sound like the sort of guy who is a nationalist , believes in a nations sovereignty , and has the greater community’s interests at heart to you?

Even you have to admit it does not.

And that is why you have to school yourself on the euphemisms , catchphrases and code used by these traitors. And that article was ‘loaded ‘ with it.

If you still cant see it ,..I suggest you educate yourself thoroughly on just WHAT neo liberalism is.

          • “I could tell at a glance it reeked of neo liberal motives and agenda.”

I guess we all see what we want to see.

  7. Rodger the Dodger is inflicted upon us from time to time like the cadaverous anti worker Bassett.

    The thing is two matters are continuously exposed;
–the standard class collaborationist nature of social democracy aka the Labour Party and in fact all parties currently represented in parliament.
    plus:
–the neo liberal transformations real world results. Rog helped sectors of the ex Soviet Union divvy up the spoils too. Family Silver?

  8. OMG – “The Reasons Labour Lost”… has Sir Roger looked at how many people voted ACT??? ONE of the reasons Labour’s vote has been going down for years is because people STILL don’t trust them because what YOU DID SIR!!!

Doing it more ain’t going to make neolib actually work, you know!

  9. It does absolutely beggar belief that one of the most evil people ever to grace Cabinet should be asked to proffer advice on how to fix the party he destroyed. Same goes with Prebble. And asking Rodney Hide about how to repair a political party is like asking Clayton Weatherston about how to fix family violence.
But, and I’d never thought I’d say these words, to be fair to Roger Douglas, no income tax for low income earners, swapping Working For Families for a UBI, and eventually moving to a retirement age of 70 (I’d amend that to be for non-manual, non-Māori, non-Pacific workers) are probably not bad ideas.

  10. To be honest when I first read this I thought it was some sort of sick joke. Douglas has a lot of balls giving the Labour party advice especially since it was thanks to people like him that labour is where it is today.

At least granny Herald didn’t roll out Bassett, man that man makes my skin crawl.
