National’s hatred towards the poor continues unabated as National desperately try to throw raw meat to their reactionary voter base in the hope to inspire enough hate and loathing to win back their redneck voters from the Conservative Party and from apathy.

Because National can’t use Kiwiblog or Whaleoil in the wake of Dirty Politics, MPs are having to sling their own mud and yesterday Bill English backed up Paula’s plan to throw another 25% of people off welfare by astoundingly comparing beneficiaries to crack cocaine addicts

Deputy Prime Minister Bill English has compared some long-term beneficiaries to crack addicts, sparking criticism.

Mr English made the comment while speaking to about 100 voters at a meeting at Club Mount Maunganui yesterday in his final push to Tauranga voters ahead of Saturday’s election.

“Getting stuck on a benefit (long-term) is like crack cocaine, it’s really hard once you’ve started to come off it …”

Bill English

…comparing the most vulnerable in society to drug addicts is the sort of hate politics National can get away with on their hate blogs, but to have the Minister of Finance stoop to this kind of redneck pandering is an indictment on National and the style of dirty politics they just can’t help themselves from engaging in.

Vote these toxic, vile people out of office.

  1. It’s amazing to me how few people call these biggotted classists out on their wealth addiction and power addiction. The systemic effects of wealth addiction and power addiction is more detrimental to a society than a drug addict ‘s actions could ever be, yet this is rewarded and respected. It’s such a sad state of affairs for a society to judge those who have more than others as “successful” – what these wealth addicts and power addicts actually need is urgent medical treatment.

  2. Well Bill English will know all about crack. He’s had his head stuck up his own for the past six years!

    Vote for change.

  3. The Anglo-Saxon entitlement excreted by Deputy Prime Minister Bill English, which he clearly considers a virtue, resembles to many that he is more akin to being identified as a Sociopathic, Double-dipping, Kleptomaniac.

Who ironically, is guilty of extended benefit fraud himself.

Colin Craig & he will make great bedmates. Just imagine.

    Vote for BillyBoy@TeamKey – 3 more years!

  4. Bill English is attacking the benefit itself, rather than the people on it. I think he’s pointing out the dangers of getting stuck on a benefit and how hard it is for those people attempting to get off it.

Having been on benefit myself, I agree that getting off it is really hard.

    • Yes, I agree that it is indeed difficult to get off of the benefit once you’ve been put in a position to have to rely on that for sustenance (what little you actually get). The idea that Bill English lacks the intelligence to fully understand the cycle of dependance and poverty is laughable. The reason it is so difficult to get off the benefit is that beneficiaries are given little in the way of real opportunities to get off. It certainly looks good statistically if Mr. English can claim the addiction of benefit lifestyle is so deplorable and a choice. He and the National party need scapegoats to explain the deficiencies in their statistics. I’m not naive enough to believe that this all comes down to one man, however, the party that sits on the high horse claiming those addicts just want to stay poor, living the lives that statistically rate similarly to third world countries, has some serious priority issues. Frankly, I worry that the kind of ideologies and moralities that this party tout seem to echo through out history. The likes of which brought about world wars. Just my two cents.

  5. Well before we go any further…I would like to remind people that THIS is the guy who stated……… ” We should be happy that we enjoy a low wage economy that encourages foreign investment .”

And there we have it , Ladies and Gentlemen , ….THIS ….is what the current Minister of Finance TRULY thinks of the people of this country.

THIS …is the sort of thinking that true totalitarian governments aspire to.

THIS ….is the kind of policy found in third world dictatorships.

AND THIS …is the future economic planning for our nation , – to become nothing more than a burnt out , used – up , hollowed out shell ripe for wage exploitation to all and sundry to take full advantage of.

CHOOSE WISELY THIS ELECTION – VOTE LEFT !!!!!

  6. These people have such a simplistic way of viewing the world. Sometimes I think it would be easier to be like them, then you wouldn’t have to feel bad about anything. No social issue is acknowledged in its complexity. The way they address every social issue is to blame the victim. Apparently everyone is responsible for their own circumstance and it has nothing to do with privilege or lack of it.

    • If those who live long term on minuscule amounts of tax dollars are like crack addicts – then what are those who live long term on vast amounts of tax dollars?? Not to mention the plethora of “perks” – Galling hippocracy much. How many hungry kids would his tax dollar salary feed?? His double dipping housing “allowance” to pay for the rent on his own house he was renting from himself so he could collect the “allowance” was more than what many beneficiaries have to live off for an entire year! What kind of sick soul, woefully/wilfully ignorant, or bubble person would vote to keep these clowns in government???

  7. I have been rotting on welfare 12 years thanks to ACC & mental health. I am so desperate to get off welfare I become suicidal and self-harm. What person would choose to be on welfare? I have won two ACC reviews to get 12 hours care per week reinstated from 2009 (soon after National got in) I still can’t get a lawyer to force ACC to reinstate my care and they refuse to listen to me or accommodate my disability.

I have written repeatedly to Judith Collins, John Key, Paula Bennett and Bill English telling them of my situation and begging for help – I was ignored.

    PAID LOSER

I get paid to be a loser by the NZ government
Forced to be on welfare, hardly a dollar I’d call well spent

In order to get paid of course by the NZ government
You have to turn up and beg with the latest forms they sent

This whirlpool of neglect, this sea of degradation
This abusive system that is a blight upon our nation

I’ve cost them hundreds cost them thousands, but still they don’t see
If I’d been given proper rehab, from welfare I’d now be free

So many times I’ve tried to stand though I knew I was unsteady
And I told them more than once, my broken heart’s not ready

12 yrs down the track from rape and not guilty
My life’s a worthless piece of shit, yet they continue to screw me

The pain inside my head so great I can barely stand
After years of disappointment all I can do is chalk the land

I get paid to be a loser by the NZ government
Forced to be on welfare, hardly a dollar I’d call well spent.

  8. “Getting stuck on a benefit (long-term) is like crack cocaine, it’s really hard once you’ve started to come off it …”
    Bill English

One has to wonder if he’s talking from first-hand experience.

  9. These beneficiaries should just go out and make some money the way Bill did…

    (Inheritance, political patronage, and graft.)
